SO in installed a JVC cd player in the ride..simple install...put the key in the ignition, turn it and the speakers come on for about 5 seconds then everything cuts off..no sound....i have checked and rechecked the speaker wires on the harness from the stereo to the car..I don't seem to be finding anything grounding out..I am lost..any ideas..??..

The actual speaker wire itself could be bad, check for frayed wires or kinks in the wire that may be cutting off a complete connection to the speaker. I had that happen to a buddy of mines car. We installed four speakers: two in the front and two in the rear, and none of them worked. They would constantly cut in and out, or just quit working all together. We finally went out and bought new speaker wire and re-ran it and it solved the problem.

awww man I was afraid that might be an option ..lol..but yeah there isn't to many other possibilities..damnit
so yall ran new speaker wires to all 4 speakers?

Yeah, initially though we pulled the speakers back out and hooked them up to a normal house radio, just to see if the speakers were the problem. We wired them up and the speakers sounded good. So that eliminated the possibility of the speakers being defective. From there, we we went out and bought a roll of new speaker wire and hooked it up to the head unit and that solved the problem. I guess they can go bad over time. If you do end up trying it, try taking a speaker and wiring it up first to see if that fixes it, that way you don't waste your time pulling and re-running new wire in your car for no reason.

All 4 speaker wires wouldn't have up and went bad at once. Something happens an you should probly find out before you make an insurance claim for your car catching on fire. Not to be a dick but it's one of the things to not mess around with

OK..silly..well I am happy it was silly...turns out my radio was going into "safe mode" because one of the speakers were blown..(i have never seen this) ...I kept playing with the fade and balance isolating speakers and the radio would play fine until I isolated the rear right speaker ..then sound would cut off..I disconnected that speaker now everything pays fine now...THanks for everyones input and responses!!..thank goodness it wasnt anything major..lol

Glad it was an easy fix, and tweetys right all four wires wouldn't miracously go bad at the same time. I misunderstood your post. I thought you meant the speakers weren't working to begin with. In my buddies case his stereo setup was not working from day one and it was the speakers wires causing the error. Good to hear you got some tunes again.

How do you have a 2000 mp3? They were only made in 01. And how did you blow the kenwoods I push mine to the limit and they haven't blown, although I don't push any bass through them

Don't take my questions the wrong way I'm asking not insulting
