Spark Plug

I do agree with needing a tool that shows the correct unit, but the size of the drive is immaterial. A drive step up/step down is not going to cause the SP to snap in two.

I'll add as well that on my Isuzu to get #3 out on the driver side, here was the assembly I needed:

plug socket, 2-in extension, 360 degree swivel, 2-in extension, step up drive, 360 degree swivel, 6-in extension, ratchet

This worked fine though I needed to loop my hand around the second 2-in extension so I could keep the assembly centered in the plug bore. I had 6 joints on that...

Using a 1/2" drive torque wrench to tighten an 8mm headed bolt to what amounts to well under 10 ft-lbs is not the right way to do things under the hood of a car.

BC.

guys no need to keep bumping the thread, for example I said myself that using a tool large wrench might have been part of the issue. it's just gonna turn into a pointless argument

How do you know the plug wasn't defective in the first place, maybe a good thing it was taken out. Sometimes they just let go. Using anti-seize on the plug thread is a good idea on most any engine, just put small amount on the threads and some dielectric grease in the end of the plug boot, this makes it easier the next time their removed. Oh yeah if you weren't there how can you know what happened, you don't do you! Nor do I!

I can't find it, or perhaps I'm overlooking...

But, can somebody source for me the PN for OE plugs? Or equivalents? I think it's about getting that time on mine...

Yeah, yeah.

Spark plugs are cheap insurance for an optimally running/performing engine. I seldom run them to recommended mileage, least ways on DI engines. I've already replaced them on my SHO (required with a tune anyway).
My experience has suggested DI is particularity abusive to plugs.

I think he knows what the recommendation is...

What GAXIBM might be referring to with comment on "check your owners manual" is IHearts question regarding part number.

Regarding spark plug pn for 2013:

Mazda Genuine spark plug*1 PE01-18110
PE02-18110
*1 This Mazda genuine spark plug features specially shaped electrodes to ensure optimum performance of the
SKYACTIV-G engine. For details, contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

Just guessing...

Yea, spark plug varies.. there are 3 aprks plugs used for the cx-5.. it just depends on build date. The oem plug has the P/N on the ceramic part; otherwise the dealership can look it up by the last 6 of your VIN. Yea.. I'm also not interested in running items until they NEED to be replaced.

GREAT step by step process for removing and replacing spark plugs, with pictures too.(Just a note for Mazda,I dont like the use of 9/16th spark plug size, kind of rare to find)
