should plugs be this dirty and oily after only 2000-3000 miles?

that sparkplug actually looks very clean. theres no buildup rust or colored residue.

Keep in mind that a LITTLE bit of dirt is normal, as you are technically setting off mini controlled explosions in the combustion chamber.
 
That's usually how my plugs look after a few thousand miles. Some carbon buildup is normal. I don't bother with the iridium plugs on my car though because they don't really seem to last much longer and cost a hell of a lot more.
 
did you measure the gap or does it just look small? I know you aren't supposed to regap the iridium plugs though..

it says its not recommended to gap iridiums....but i decreased the gap just a bit. there are about .037 now from .044
 
Those plugs look pristine.

BTW NGK Coppers work just fine in our cars for 1/4 the price of the Iridiums.
