Spark plug replacement on 2020 CX-9

:
2020 Mazda CX-9
I did a spark plug replacement on my 2020 CX 9 with 53K miles. Here's a picture of the plugs. Not fouled, but was surprised at how beat-up they looked. I used an aftermarket plug, Autolite XP5682. $27 for four of them on Amazon. Car runs like a top.

Get some dielectric grease and put on the sparkplug boot before you reinstall. Had best luck, wiggling back and forth while pushing down on it. Takes a little finesse to get them to click back down onto the plug end.

I'm interested to see how these plugs wear over time. Most people have been using OEM plugs, or the OEM equivalent from NGK (who is the manufacturer of the OEM plugs). Please keep us posted if you notice any changes in engine performance or fuel economy. It's always good to be on the hunt for a more cost-effective aftermarket alternative.

Your original plugs do look beat up, but they were due for change 13k mi ago. Looks like there might be a minor oil leak as well.

Bump on this... How's the miles on the plugs so far?

No sir, it runs just like it did with the original plugs. Taking a trip to Colorado and back. When I get back I’m going to pull a plug and see what it looks like.
Did you end up pulling the plug to take a picture?

I've only replaced with Mazda OEM and NGK 90288. The ngk got me about 50k kms and now I'm seeing a loss in L/100kms.

Will have to do another change soon.

I’m leaving Colorado Saturday and will be home to Florida Monday. I’ll pull the plugs mid week and take a picture. I’ve been getting average 18.5 mpg but have been pulling a motorcycle trailer with my 700lb bike on it. Using premium gas, and power/torque has been terrific. More to follow.
