SP23 Sub and amp

New '05 SP23 owner. Does anyone know if you can tweak the bass on the actual sub, or only through the HU? I had a '97 Maxima SE with the Bose system, no sub, and I could pull a lot more bass out of that system by tweaking the HU control than I can this unit...it's pretty weak. Also, the specs on the car say that the amp is programmable. Do I need to remove the plastic covering to see any controls? BTW..I am by no means an expert when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks

I don't think there is anything programmable other than bass/mid/treble controls on the head unit. I could be wrong though.

I don't think the Bose system in the SP23 has the mid control...at least mine doesn't, so I hope I am not missing something.

ok, maybe not. My Protege5 did so I was just making an assumption that they would continue it.

they did up till the 06 models... the 04 and 05 3's have mid control

Oh that explains why when I was riding with a friend test driving an '06 I couldn't find the mid level control on the HU. :P

As I mentioned above, my '05 SP23 does not have a mid control. Would love to hear from some other SP23 owners just to verify I am not missing something, and also to maybe answer my original question. Thanks.

Honestly, the bass, mid, and treble controls only cloud the sound because the frequency range affected is too wide. I never touched any of the controls on my P5.

the only thing that you can adjust on an 05 is the treble and bass... off the top of my head i can't remember if there is a midrange. when i get back in town i'll take a look. The sub is kinda weak in my opinion. i'm lookin at putting a 10" in the back but i like having all that room.

LOL, I'm not dead yet!

But honestly, who cares. The original poster wasn't even interested in midrange, they wanted to boost bass.
