Sound dampening

depends on your layers, I'd say 20 would be adequate for both doors. Try to get as much against the outer skin before you cover your inners, and I'd do atleast 2layers on that..
is it really necessary to sound deaden and worth the time/money to do?

it's not NECESSARY, but it's sooo soo nice. deadening your doors especially. you get double benefits. cutting roadnoise, AND enhancing your midbass responce of your door speakers. Overally I couldn't really say if it's worth it or not, sorta all a personal prefrence thing. I for one think it is. BUt there's others who strip every etra bit of anyhting whod find adding mass to your ca rintentionally to be silly.

Doors are a good place to start, if you like the effect, try the carpet padding thing, ESPECIALLY over your wheelwells. makes a HUGE difference. other ppl's 5's are annyoing for me to ride in now that my chick and I have both done it.

Okay cool. Well that will be the last stage of my audio system, I'll probably get 20ft of Edead v1 SE which is suppose to be almost twice as thick as v1 (or is v3 more recommended?). I did see that thread about the carpet padding. The other day I tried looking for that "synthetic/hartex" padding at home depot, but couldnt find it.
