So besides my other thread, I have heard that Mazda has a lot of problems -- coming from my Dad's Mechanic.
Is this true? Should I be discouraged? I need an owner's point of view rather than a mechanic.
I won't do much modding on the car, since I'm not a gear head, yet.

I know you guys can't wait to do this to me since I ask too much question. (blowup)

Didn't read ur old thread. From my personal experience I've had my OEM 6i for almost two years. I really haven't had any issues. The ones that I had was a bad fuse (easy fix just pop a new one in) and I had to replace my rotors last winter (due to me bein retarded and rippin the e-brake every chance i got on the snow.

So idk just don't be discouraged if you treat em' right and take care of em' you won't b disappointed; especially with a ms3

well MS3 engine was featured on Wards 10 best motors 2007, it has also been praised as a very reliable vehicle by several magazine such as motor trend and car & driver. Just do some research, I dont think you will be dissappionted.

If you're asking about Mazda in general, I'll say with confidence that there are plenty of highly reliable Mazdas around. It is true that some have problems, but if you take good care of your car, you should not have any problems.

It's really a balance of things. Do you want a really boring car like a Hyundai? A friend of mine has a brand new Elantra and it has nothing on my car when it comes to driving dynamics, even though the two cars are in the same class and mine has over 100K. I have a Protege5, BTW.

It comes down to a personal preference.

I haven't really done much researching about this car compare to how to not get ripped off by a dealership.

But yeah, I'll be starting my research about this car more now. Since I'm done with the dealership and yeah.
I know basic stuff about this car, just want to extend my knowledge more about it.(godown)

Im no expert but sports cars start acting up before regular N/A cars. Off the top of my head I cant really think of a notiriously reliable car that hits 0-60 in 6 sec or less. I haven't had any problems with mine so far. Only complaint is the crappy gears / mounts.

I just think that any car will require some tweaking to get it to where you like it. For me it was motor mounts, different gear oil and stuff like that. But once you figure those things out, it truly becomes fun.

In my opinion, if it was up to me to spend 10-20 Grand on a Hyundai or 10-20k on a semi-full of s***. I would most deff take the s*** any day. Seriously, is this a joke?

Every car has its quirks but done't let that drive you to buy a Hyundai.

20000 on my MS3 and problem free except a nut on the rear sway that came loose. Don't worry about it. Yeah there have been a few problems, but mostly on cars that have been modded. On Forums you hear about problems, seldom hear from people with no problems. You seldom hear of someone who joined a forum just to say they had no problem.

Why all the hyundai hate? The genesis coupe is set to be a great car.

Remember too...the more you mod, the more likely it is you will have issues. I don't think this forum is the greatest cross-section of Mazda owner experience because almost all of us mod and drive our cars hard. There are bound to be more failures than average as a result.

As for the mechanic recommendations...how reliable are Hyundais really? Read some reliability reports before making the decision. Sure the Camry has some power as well, but Toyota has had more reliability issues recently than anyone thought could be possible.

Bottom line, if you want an MS3, you should get one. It's as reliable as the average bear, and you're not buying it for reliability, you want other characteristics as well, so go for it.

My P5 has 80k miles and the only issues I have had in my 2 years of ownership are some moderate oil consumption and broken header flanges.

Sorry sir, no the Camry could not beat the MS3 to 60 or in the 1/4 for that matter.

R&T achieved 6.1 to 60 and 14.5 in the 1/4 with a 99.9 mph trap speed in the Camry SE V6
Edmunds only got 14.9 at 96.4 mph.

my first car ever was a 94 mazda mx6 i4, that I drove for two years, let my sister borrow it for a day to go somewhere and she totaled, it, so I bought a 95 mx6 LS (v6) and drove that for the last 6 years and put 70,000 miles on it. it has 160,000 miles on it and no major problems what so ever. now I have my mazdaspeed3, which so far has been great (only 2000 miles on it so far though). so I would say from my experience that mazdas are pretty reliable, and safe ( my sister can atest to that after hitting one of those rock walls on the freeway where they cut through a mountain ) and came out with minor bruises only.

but yeah these cars are fun to drive and I dont worry about waking up to go to work and it not starting if thats your concern. oh and did I mention they are fun as hell to drive?

Mazda builds reliable cars. Look at all this miatas on the road that have over 150k miles on them and every one you can still race the s*** out of. That car can be redlined on a daily basis. I've had my 97 for 3 going on 4 years w/94k miles on it and the only issue i've had was to replace a Clutch master/slave cylinder after I put a HD clutch in.

Mine has been solid but time will tell. I have had mine almost 2 years. I would expect average reliability maybe a little less with the turbo.

It depends on which magazine reviews it but I saw one review where the camry beat the ms3 I forget which one.
