Soooo who wants to swap a tranny this weekend?

Covenant Christian academy parking lot. Prolly gonna get it to my house after work tonight.

The only reason I think its a CV joint, is that Chris' (Prodigy) was doing the exact same thing before he replaced his axles. The car goes into gear perfectly, and when it was moving, shifted perfectly.

Buying another trans isn't an issue, FINDING one is. You later 3rd gen guys have it easy. Go to PaP and get a probe trans. I think the G15 fits my car, with the clutch/flywheel/pressure plate that goes on the F25

...your car is a third gen technically though lol

i wish i could find a way to get up there to look at the car...maybey saturday after work i will see but not sure if i can

I'd appreciate it mang. I'll more than likely end up renting a car...

I'll fill your car back up with gas if you come diagnose WTF is wrong with my car...

The front of the car was going crunch crunch. It's nothing I've ever heard or felt a car do :(

i am just wondering if its the same problem ron had with his second trans for his car. hey michael pm me an address where i can come look at that car if you are where i think you are i will be up 85 sunday morning

Be careful you don't land yourself in *SP or SM.

I am not mechanically inclined by ANY stretch, but I would like to help. I can be an extra pair of hands and I can also learn too. As an added bonus, if I get that WGA from Scott before then, perhaps we could have a twofer?

LMK.

Autocross is the LAST thing on my mind at that moment. If it happens to land in a Street Prepared class, so be it.

It's not like anyone is ever going to protest me anyways.

Could be.... I wish I heard it though. That seems to be the most reasonable solution.

He had an exploded output shaft bearing...
(due to the shop doing a shabby rebuild - they broke and didn't bother to fix the plastic oil channel piece)

It would be a easy/cheap fix as long as the other pieces of the bearing don't damage the gears.

Was Ron's transmission clicking only on deceleration?

rons trans was hard to get into gear and was just making some stupid loud shearing noises.

michael pm me an address where i can look at the car so i can get an idea of where its at

So, when put into gear and revved, the speedometer rises. It does this in every gear, accompanied by a shitload of clicking. I'm thinking either the diff, or the axle. My luck, it would be the diff, as that is the more expensive of the two parts.

So any gear (1-5, plus R) no go? Just horrible sounds?

If I'm reading this right: It's an open diff. Therefore power goes to the wheel with the least traction (ie, the broken side). Power is making it to the output shaft (?) since the speedo cable's moving. So either it's stripped the splines on the axle, or on the output shaft...

Someone with actual practical knowledge, please let me know how flawed that logic is...

the spider gears or the diff housing could also be bad but you are not too far off. Basically it has power to the ring gear on the diff after that who knows.

how far down stream is the speedo pickup? @ the ring gear?

Just let me know when there's gonna be a "fixin' party" for this. I just need the experience and I figured I might be able to lend a very sexy hand. Until then, I cannot add anything more... sadly.
