Someone teach the kid!!!

Alright, I know what you're gonna say...but...I need some help here.

Could someone explain to me what a turbo timer would do...I know I'm an idiot but im just a baby to this and I really do want to know...

yawn...wheres my pacifier?

no, guys, for real, what exactly does it do and how much am I looking at to put one in.

I'm not totally dense btw, i do know that it increases psis somehow or something like that...

...bla bla, i know i dont deserve my car...just help me guys...

all a turbo timer does is, when you turn off your car, the turbo timer will keep the engine running for a certain number of min to help to cool down the turbo better, since if the engine is off no oil is circulated, thus the turbo doesn't cool down as well, causing more ware.

The Blitz I have on my MSP will run 9.99 minutes if you really want it to. It has different settings, it adjusts run time depending on time spent over a certain boost level, time running, or preset time.

That's why I said, "If you really wanted too." But are you reffering to overheating? Why exactly would octane make a difference, just out of curiousity?

I dont really think it makes a diff..I think he is just making the point that gas prices suck and you wasting 10 min of 91 gas for no reason..but I could also be ignorant

Oh, that makes sense, I'm comming from a 99 Dodge Dakota R/T that got 11-13 mpg, so I haven't had pump shock yet.

Sorry, I thought you meant something else,

well thats it, you just hit the nail RIGHT DAB SMACK in the middle of the head. :D

I got my GReddy Full Auto Timer for $99+tax...The guy I was talking to at the shop I use said he leaves his TT on for 3 minutes. He's got a turbo'd prelude running on 9 or 10 psi. He said 2-3 minutes is good, and on a stock MSP 2 would be fine. Leaving your car idling for 2 minutes will not waste gas. At least not enough to makea difference. What would you rather pay for, a new turbo in the future, or that liitle bit of gas you waste a couple of times a day??

As I have my Blitz set now; my MAZDASPEED will continue to idle about 1 min. 30 sec. when I get to work (to give some idea), which is about a 35 minute drive.

I have mine set to 1min 15sec- 2min (long trips). I also have the Blitz Turbo Timer (TT). The product you talked about raising the PSI is a boost controller. If you would like to know more about these let me know and I will give you some information on it. The avg. cost of a TT is $85.99-$135.99 (US). Then you might need to get a harness that runs $10.99-$35.99 (US) that will hold the TT.

Just don't boost wihtin 30 seconds of stopping and a timer is useless. If you commonly like to hit full boost while pulling inot your driveway then quickly shut off the car then you need a timer and a b**** slap!(spank)
Even if you do use boost before stopping just run the car for 30 seconds before turning it off.

what about long trips? they recommend that after long trips you give time to idle, and never mentions anything about hitting boost on these trips. my drive to work is about an hour. i dunno *shrugs*

im gonna get the Blitz TT with boost gauge anyways, so at least the boost gauge will be worth it, plus the minor relief of possibly saving the mechanical life.

Ferom what i have been told by the turbo gurus, even long trips don't require a cool down as long as you weren't boosting like crazy before stopping. Basicly as long as you are out of boost you aren't heating up the turbo enough to need it.

i'd leave my car running for 10 minutes unatended locked up when it was cold out in my RX-7 TII depending on the area. what better way to be sure your car is safe than to leave it running with the turbo timer going? if some dumbass were to break in and knew how to drive stick they'd go to take the e-brake off and the car would shut off and without keys the person ain't gonna be starting it back up.

and as far as the octane goes,:p to all of you who get 91 as your highest octane
