Some tire/wheel/clearance help, please.

The wheels look yummy!

I see you've got the bumper guards. Did it come with it or did you install it - easy install? How do you like them?

Thanks. I really like these wheels. Gonna try to clean up the stockers and get 'em ready to sell.

I put the guards on. Got 'em from Rosenthal Mazda, I believe. Supposedly, they're not for the Speed, but several folks here have used 'em and they fit fine for me. I wonder if there's risk of 'em coming off at 150 mph (drive2) I like the way they break up the white of the rear end, plus they should help prevent scratches on the bumper.

This is a little bit after the fact, but a local MS3 owner put 245/40s (forget the tire model) on his RX-8 wheels. They fill out the wheel wells perfectly, and they look great on the wheels, not to mention the insane contact patch, but he was definitely rubbing on them... he's going to roll his fenders soon, so hopefully that takes care of things.

Another member had put stock size MS3 tires on a set of RX-8 wheels, and the wheel gap looked like he was ready to go offroading! lol

I saw pics of stock wheels on the RX-8s. Scary amount of wheel rim outside the tire. Yea, I bet 245/40s would look like steamroller tires. I considered 245s but that's a bit much for me. Since these 225/45s will probably last me more than five years, I figure I'm set.

Looks like you made your choice already, but for anybody following this thread I'll post up a few pics of my 235/40/18 setup on some 18x8 +48 offset setup. I am also running a Cobb RSB with a stock suspension otherwise. At first I thought that I heard it rub every now and then while cornering hard. I would check the fenders and tires every time I got out of the car. I couldn't find any evidence of contact on either the inner fender or the tire. The only time that I notice any rubbing now is going uphill on some rolling hills at decent speed. I'll keep you updated on the rubbing. I have a full day of autocross tomorrow ;)

Looks good, man. I miss autocrossing. I'm not even sure anyone does that around here anymore. We used to have four or five events every year. Let us know how you did, and post some pics, please.
