i know their are plenty of threads on window tint but i have specific questions and as arnold would say "i'm going to ask you a bunch of questions and i want them answered immediatley" lol.

1. whats the legal tint limit in md?
2. what tint would you recommend for keeping the car cooler, and not making it too dark at night?
3. is it alot harder to back up at night with a tinted rear window?

thanks!

I dont have tint yet so i cant answer the other. But i will be getting tint before the summer.

as you can see in my sig I have 18% solar guard. 35% is the legal limit here in nebraska but I haven't had any trouble with it yet. Backing up at night isn't bad, but you do have to pay attention to what you are doing.

The tints combined with the sunshade of the moonroof and windshield shades help keep the car considerably cooler than what it was when it had nothing at all. It's still hot inside but not anywhere near as bad as it was.

I have 20% on mine with the legal limit being 35%. I have no issues at night or with the law so far. I will have trouble getting my car to pass inspection but I have a few months to find a shop that will let it slide.

I had the same tint on my truck and with the use of a fitted sunsahde, my black interior was easily 20 degrees cooler than ambient on a summer day when parked in the sun.

I have 5% tint on my rear windows. It takes a matter of getting used to, but I know the car well enough now that I don't worry about spacial issues. It keeps the back of the car much cooler, so I hope this helps you.

This photo was taken a week or so after the tint was done, about a month after I got the car:

It is dark. Limo tint (5%) isnt meant to be light...but its also lighter when looking out from the inside.

wait does the higer percent mean the lighter the tint? (sorry i've never bothered learning anything about tint)

ah. so in maryland we can't have really dark tint at all. thanks, because i was assuming the higer percent the darker the tint. i want something that will block out some sun but not look really dark.

Just curious, I just got a 5 door yesterday in velocity red, and I was curious what it costs to tint the windows. Was there anything special that had to be done, especially with the smaller rear windows?

Any tint shop worth their squeegee shouldn't have any problems.

Prices will vary greatly. Best to call around.

For the best prices find an independant guy. My guy has been an installer for years and now works for himself. I paid $170 for 20% all the way around on my hatch.

thats all cool, i paid 110 for mine and its 5% here in CA. It sucks that the front passenger windows cant be tinted here in this state
