For this.. (08.5 GT)

I can rationalize it though, or at least I am trying to, because I'm trying to buy my first house and between insurance, financing and gas I'm saving about $150 a month on the trade.

The STI was more fun to drive, obviously, but the MS3 packs a lot of bang for the buck and since it's just a DD for me, it had to be done.

I think I miss the aftermarket and forums more than the car itself though. I'm still on NASIOC more than the Mazda forums because honestly, a lot of the Mazda forums.. eh... not so great. The aftermarket certainly isn't, that's for sure.

Oh well, I'll get another in a few years.

I totally understand your Trade in Situation, and i really have nothing against the Mazdaspeed 3. but me i'll never trade in such a beautiful STI for any MS3, don't matter what the MS3 have under the hood... That STI is just over the top of any MS3.. Just my .02

id rather drive something different... i know about a billion kids with suby's and i know 4 with ms3's so yeah.. its nice to be different

Not to be mean or an ass or anything, but you suby guys should have kept your cars...

You will not get the enjoyment you had with the subies with the MS3.
And to get 350HP out of the MS3, will be a steep and frustrating, not to mention, expensive journey...thats if your engine doesn't blow...

Suby FTW!!!!! (as shown in the pictures)

I think it's one thing to say what you would and wouldn't keep or trade in for online, it's another thing to actually be in the situation and trying to balance the cost of it. If that wasn't the case we'd all be rocking Lamborghini and Aston Martin daily drivers. s***, where is the paperwork for me to trade in my MS3 for a Veyron on an even swap while we're at it?

I'd trade in the MS3 for a ton of things, a TON, no questions asked, but that doesn't mean I could afford to do it or that it would even make sense if I could.

Before the STI I had a highly modified, (faster than the STI) 02 WRX that I had purchased new and aside from a 6 month run in with a new 06 350z Touring that ended up being a dealer by-back/lemon, I had been driving that same Subaru body style for 6+ years. It was time for a change, and my finances dictated the move. It is what it is..

simmer down...when did anyone call the MS3 a POS? yeeesh people...un twirl those panties...

how can u laugh as a subaru being classified as a race car. ???... not all are of course, but if you have ever been to any road race, time attack, autocross events im sure you have see plenty of stricly off road use only subarus out there. i.e. element tunings sti, cusco, hks, team orange, bozz speed...the list goes on and on. and there are tons of privately funded ones as well, such as my 93l...or my friends twin turbo wrx...

i sold my 06 wrx because I just wanted to try something different for once, I miss the subaru but overall the ms3 is a fun car, a bit more practical for now at least. I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with the car...

and the 06 wrx for giggles:

I came within a cunthair of getting a low-mileage Saab 9-2x Aero in the $15k range. As much as I really like my car, sometimes I'll see a 9-2x on the road and think about what I could've done with it and the $8k difference...

Haha I had an 06 350z touring (silverstone) also. I had it for about a year before I started running into problems, and turned out to be a dealer buy back also. Just curious what were the problems you faced with your 06?

I'm currently looking to trade my ms3 for an sti, is it a smart choice financially, probably not. But i've come across a few sti's with low mileage for around 24,000. So it's in range, compared to a Veyron. Currently I can afford a better car, but with the hard economic times today it probably won't make any sense to do it. But I dunno...

And I totally understand the financial reasons for your trade. Anyways, beautiful sti btw...
