so so 1/4 MILE TRACK times

I got back from the track about 1 hour ago, and I didn't do what I wanted... i.e mid 14's

I have the JOEP MBC at 10 PSI the FR reg and a custoum
3 inch exshust from the downpipe back with a high flow cat to
a apex n1. My best time was this

old bridge twp
10:20 pm

car # 983

r/t 1.412
60' 2.265
330 6.362
1/8 9.772
mph 72.09
1000 12.692
1/4 15.191
mph 90.04

p.s this is my second time ever on the track.

Can I get any Better??? Please give advise...

YOu can alwasy get better especialy if you have only gone twice, how much better? I have no clue :D

you can get a little better, as that trap is higher than a few people with quicker e.t.'s, though not by much. 60' was pretty good for only 2nd time at track, try changing shift points maybe to get the e.t. down a little.
"from the downpipe back" means cat back w/ a high flow cat? if so the downpipe including the s contraption would be my next suggestion to run quicker :)

jesus @ 10psi you pulled a 15? I was hoping to see a mid 14 AT LEAST!. Aside it being your 2nd time on the track..realistically i'd hope to see better times..but still a solid attempt...good luck man..bring those R/T's down!

Don't feel bad. I ran a 15.55 at raceway park my first (and only)time there on a wednesday about 3 weeks ago boosting 10 PSI. I'm hoping to get back there soon. How many runs did you get in and how long were you there?

alright you guys have a MSP, and boosting 10psi and ran mid to low 15's....... i took my MSP to fontana speedway back in Feb jess 2 months after i had it so it was bone stock at 6psi and ran a 15.2xx. i guess its driver not to put any1 down but 10 psi thats may not seem like much but that should be enough to hit high to mid 14's

Dude...he ran 15.1. If he was .2 faster you'd be all on his jock. (shrug)...

Couple of things he can do to find a few tenths -

1) Get rubber block spring inserts for the rear springs. They prevent the springs from compressing

2) Tire pressure - 20psi f, 45-50psi rear

3) Focus ONLY on your launch - launch higher, around 4k rpms...use the clutch to modulate tire spin. REMEMBER! Clutch slip is BETTER than tire spin. :)

4) Seat time. Practice, practice practice.

5) Shift into 4th gear SOONER, rather than later - this may help you pick up some MPH.

6) Stage DEEP

7) See #4

You're right. It is the driver. Personally, I need work on my launches because I have trouble launching at over 3000 without spin->hop. Also I need to mess around with my shift points to see what works best and make sure my shifts are smoother. My 4th->5th shift was flubbed a little bit on my 15.55 run. I just need more practice.

DUDE YOUR MPH is waaay off!
Where are you shifting!
I ran a 14.3 with 11psi ,a 2.5 D/P.and the stock cat back and airbox !
I put down a 15.1 at 90MPH bone stock!
What are you guy's doing wrong?
I don't get it!
BTW,I wish I had your 60 ft. time though, that is a good 60 ft time!
Sounds like you need to shift faster and take the damn car to the redline between shifts!
My .2 cents,
Matt:D

THANKS

I guess I have a lot of practice to do.

I drove all day yesterday, at least 125 miles before I got to the track. I was there from 7:30pm until 11:00 PM.

I got three runs in and the 15.1 were the best I did.

That was my second run of the day...

This is the type of valuable input for beginners that keeps me coming back to this board...(2thumbs)

You should NOT be in 5th gear when you hit the traps! There in lies your slow e.t. problem! It sounds like you are shifting waaaaayy to early in the RPM's.
You guy's that go to the track,TAKE IT TO THE REDLINE!Or at least very close to it!
I don't even have to look at my tach when driving on the road or at the track,I can feel the instant the power is starting to fall off.

When I first started dragging(this is meant for HAIL MY SPEED being his first time at the track) I used to get the EXTREME shakes when I pulled up to the line to stage.I mean think about it.There are who knows how many people watching you,and soo much that is going through your mind at that moment that you just get a case of the nerves.BUT,when those 3 little yellow lights drop,it is on !Everthing comes into focus and the only thing going through my mind is when and where to shift and making sure that nothing goes wrong.I got over the shakes after going to the track a lot,but occasionally, after not going for a while like a month or two,I'll get em again on my first or second run.
This is my thoughts, this is just me.
It could be you or any one of you guys too!
I dunno?
BUT,practice helps a lot!
Go to the track, ask some questions, look around and watch what other people are doing and how they are running, you can learn a lot!
You have to start somewhere ,and it seems like you have a very good attitude by saying that maybe I need some practice!
This is true,PRACTICE IS YOUR FRIEND!
Lata,

I think that for your second ever run you did great. Every run you get your times just get better and better. Remember, there is a big differance from launching at green lights. then at the track.

My car was hot too. I drove around for an hour and a half before my runs. Next time maybe i'll bring ice because the drive is unavoidable.
