She was old and she had looked sick for the last month or so. For the past week she was basically sleeping under my desk and barely eating. Finally today, she started doing spasms and heavy breathing, then they gradually got worse....she threw up, something....and finally passed on.....

....leaving me anal leakage as she died.

I'll miss my sneakers, as she def. was a great cat. And that leaves me household with 2....and 1 was the same age as her so i'm afraid shes only got a bit as well.

Both my cats lived with my rents. Turbo (fully black short hair) was born in 1987 and died in 05. Coral (siamese color short hair tabby) was born in 93 and died early this year.

She looked like a cool pet. Sorry.

sucks to hear that, but don't fret about your other aged cat. After all, cats can live for up to 34years, and the domestic longhair's average lifespan is 15 years anyway,so just put it out of your mind and concentrate on enjoying your pet. :)

whether you're human or feline, this happens to everyone when they pass on,the body looses control of waste and food processing functions and the ability to "hold it in" so it all just comes right out. Tried to put it in nicer terminology but it didn't explain it well enough.

34 years? Damn robo kitty or something. I thought my 19 y.o. was up there.

thanks guys....yeah...just finished cleaning up everything. Rigor mortus is no joke tho.....i was afraid i was gonna crack one of her bones moving her.

to quote Obi-Won Kenobi:
"He was a great pilot....and a good friend."

But manily the last part of that.

Dude I am so sorry to hear this. My little girl is 17 and luckly she still has more energy than I do. Its not an easy thing to deal with when a loved one passes away.

Yeah, not the best way to come home after graduating college. But my father is moving soon anyway, and we weren't sure what we were going to do with the cats....so in a sick twisted way it might've worked out for the better.

Sorry to hear that man, it's amazing how much a pet can grow on us...RIP little kitty.

well, rest assured, her clone will continue to live strong safe and sound in my house.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. They truly are a member of the family, not just a pet. Don't fret about the age of the other kitties - my Ricoh girl lived to be 21! Just remember, Sneakers is now young and healthy and chasing mice, basking in sunbeams and dining on fresh tuna for forever.

So sorry for your loss.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Sorry to hear about Sneakers' passing. I have three myself and would be torn up if any of them left me. They're 5, 4, and 2 though, so I have some time. My last one made it to 22. She was a beast.

my condolences

We get so attached to pets!
I know I will feel very sad when I lose my cat named Artemis.

What is usually done to cats when they die?
Is it common to dig up a grave in the back yard?

I know what it's like to lose a pet man, so I'm sorry you had to go through that. My mom had to put our dogs down when I was younger, they lived to be 14.

But I have to be honest,.... however inappropriate - that part about the anal leakage.... it made me laugh just a little. I'm sorry.

I haven't gone through losing a 'for real' pet yet. I had goldfish and hermit crabs while growing up -- but they aren't true pets that burrow their way into your heart.

I have a dog now, though -- supposedly a German Shepherd/Husky Mix, though I'm not sure of her breeds since I adopted her. I got her when she was 6 weeks old, and her second birthday was on September 9th. I don't even want to think about her passing away.

My condolences! And don't worry too much over your other cats .. Just love the time that you have with them, cause really, you never know how long it's going to be. It could be two hours or two decades. Just enjoy it!

Wow, thanks everyone....you know, I was doing pretty good until I read the thread again. You guys are making me miss the good times lol. As for what I did with the body, I didn't know what to do, so shes sitting in a garbage bag I guess awaiting removal. Sad, but I don't want to bury a cat in my backyard because we are moving soon and that would be a lovely gift if someone tried to plant flowers there.

As for the anal leakage....haha don't worry it was meant to be funny...I see it as her getting back at me for my younger years when I was mean to her.

34 years?!?!? WTF?!?!?!

Well, I had to put down two cats. The nine-year-old was put down because of a cancerous brain tumor that was growing out of her head. It gave a nasty smell of decay. The ten-year-old was put down because of nympho (thyroid glands?) lukemia. She became so sickly and skinny that we were forced to put her down because she was showing signs of suffering. We burried both cats in our back yard. God knows how the hell we will burry our 75 lbs, 55 lbs, and two 50 lbs dogs when their time comes. We've also got three more cats, two birds (the third one flew away), and fishes. Yep, got a farm here!

My friend just put down her dog of 14 years the day of her trip due to sever asthma. She's still trying to cope with that.

Having animals is awesome until they pass. In time, it will pass Thug541. Sneakers was a very pretty kitty! Sorry for your loss. Peas!
