2008 Mazda CX-7 Sport
Becoming a dad in May, so I was really reluctant to get rid of the "weekend ride" our 2007 Red Mustang convertible. But, my first thought of a SUV was the CX-7. So, after driving a Nitro, a Caliber, and a Rogue, I saved the Mazda for the last test drive. It was GREAT! So, after owning it for a week and already driving in on a 500 mile trip, I am in love. It's way more fun to drive than the Mustang, and alittle less sharp around the edges. It's like the mustang is a lower-end sports car, and the cx7 is a more elegant sports car. We are very happy, until we have to fill-er-up or fight over who gets to drive! haha Hope the baby loves it too! ;-)(cabpatch)

welcome to the forum. there's a lot of things for you to catch up. I suggest you visit the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) page first which you can see HERE then there's a lot of things you can do to customize your CX7 like adding aftermarket accessories, etc.

Anyway, you will enjoy your ride and congrats to the coming addition to the family. Run a poll here for us to name the baby LOL

Finally someone to back me up that the CX-7 is more fun to drive than my 2005 Mustang.

Nobody would believe me!!

And once the snow flies... that AWD is nice. (Though the tires leave something to be desired when trying to brake on snow).

Yes, no more mustang

I had a really hard time getting rid of the mustang! It was really my wife's car, but my fun weekend car. (I drive a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 single cab) The CX7 just drives alot smoother than the stang. My wife feels more safe in it too! So, yeah, I'm converted!

Congrats on the new car and the new baby on the way! I was in much the same situation last year. I had to part with my 2006 Honda Civic Si with my son on the way and settle for a more Daddish kind of vehicle, ha ha. I found the CX-7 to be a very nice compromise between sports car and people hauler. It handles remarkably well for a near mid-size CUV although I do miss the go-cart like handling and engine sound of my Si :( I also miss the 31 mpg I got in the Si. All in all I'm happy with my CX-7 and with the snow/ice storms we've had in KS this winter, the AWD has been amazing. My son, now 4 months old loves to ride in Daddy's "zoom zoom car" as I call it, puts him to sleep every time. I guess we all have to grow up someday and the CX-7 kind of provides fun and sensibility in a very nice looking car.

Congrats and welcome! You are not alone I will be a Dad too in July. Got my 08 CX-7 last month and i've been enjoying it very much...

I wouldn't say the CX-7 puts one to sleep, it does get bumpy, well we mostly drive in NYC area, pretty bad roads, CX-7 tight suspension tuning doesn't help, i'm surprised how nothing rattles after all these potholes?

Hey, welcome aboard....congrats on the 4 month old bundle of joy and I have a Mustang(2004) convertible as a weekend car we bought last summer for fun and I must say there is no comparison...the CX7 does everything better. The hubby has an 07 Mariner and loves my car over his.....the first car of mine he loves!! I have also had the Mazda RX 8 which still kicked butt over the Mustang but maybe it's cuz my stang is a V6 not a GT??? Anyway, I have had mine for a year and a half (22,000 miles)and have had no big issues .....just minor gas cap issue.....still lovin' it!! Enjoy!

Yeah, my wife's stang was a v-6 as well. I was just amazed at how the cx-7 seemed to hug curves better than her car! My complaint is the gas mileage, but hers is no sunroof (sad1) since she had to do away with the conv. Still loads of fun!

Too funny BLHOwie...congrats on being a father and congrats on the car. In December of 06 (two weeks after buying the new Mustang GT convertable) I found out that I was going to be a father...lasted almost a year with the car before I decided to give it up. I think giving up a kidney or spare rib would have been easier but I am not sorry. I got the CX-7 (with a few mods) and this thing really flies...and handles better that the mustang by a land slide. Best of luck to you.
