Snowspeed 3's. I'll Start

Right on! And I really like them. I'd buy another set without hesitation. They are amazing through 10 inches of snow and the speed is rock solid on ice. I'm sure the combination of LSD and DSC helps a lot too because I find it better than my previous '05 Sport GT which was easier to lose control of.

Good, glad you like those tires! I have a set of Blizzak WS-50's and unfortunately it's just 1" too small of a rim size to fit. Had them for my older car, and they did wonderful! I was hesitant at the tread pattern of the WS-60, it didn't look as aggressive as the WS-50. Glad to hear you're diggin them though.

Running stock tires in the snow is an absolute guaranteed way to crash the car.

Funny, I've driven twice this year in the snow. Didn't crash either time...

Skill plays a factor too people and when I can afford snow tires, I'll go get some. Until then, I find nothing wrong with being careful. If you know your car can't handle the snow, don't go out in it. Simple as that.

I don't have a MS3, but the lack of snow in this thread is sad :)

This is a snow tire...

Everyone that thinks it's "okay" to be driving with the RE-050 in the snow is an idiot. They're not rated for snow. They're SUMMER tires. Even in 1" of snow, you lose any and all grip needed for accelerating, turning, and especially braking.

"Skill" will not save you in the event of an emergency braking situation. There's no reason to put yourself or other drivers in danger because you think your "driving skills" are better than everyone else's. For my and my family's sake, stay off the road if you're too cheap to buy appropriate tires for the winter. At the very least, get some tires that are M+S rated. Please.

My apologies to the OP for going off topic.

My MS3 got to stay in the garage this winter, but I'll follow astraelraen's lead and post up some real snow pics :D

Sorry for this being borderline OT, I just love these pics :)

mine is completely covered in salt right now and looks disgusting. i'm so sad right now. i wont even take a picture of it and there's no reason to try and wash it when we're only going to get more snow soon anyway.

This thread is great . . . I was going to take pictures of my burried car yesterday, but ended up not . . . now I wish I had. We got something like 35-40cm of snow in Montreal over the weekend and there sat my new little red car, asking me to go into the garage . . . next year . . . next year I'll try to find a crap box to drive for the winter . . .

That's complete bs man. Don't risk your life, your car, and others lives. These tires are complete s*** in snow whether you're skilled or not. I came upto an unlucky yellow light coming home from work with a little bit of snow on the ground, and with no time to downshift, and couldn't possibly brake cause of the tires, I had to honk my horn through an intersection at a long red light. I was very lucky nothing happened..

I so wanted to take pics of the MS3 covered by the 51 cm of snow that we got dumped on us this weekend. However, the wife ended up digging her out before I could get around to taking pics. Arrrgghhh! We are on track to a record year of snow here in Ottawa with 411 cm so far and the record of 440 cm close at hand. One more snowstorm oughta do it.

you crazy canucks and your metric system.... that is a hell of a lot of snow though!

I grew up driving in upstate NY snow courtesy of the lake effect.

To quote Chris Rock.. "You can drive with your feet but that don't make it a good idea."

If I was caught in snow with the stock tires that's one thing but to actually go out and drive on them is dangerous. In Va, we don't get enough snow to really matter. The few times we get 6-8 inches I'll take something other than the MS3.

yeah i grew up in the poconos (ski resort area of PA) and there can be a lot of snow there at times so I am plenty skilled at driving in the snow. However last year I got caught in the snow with the ms3 and stock tires, got cut off by a blazer and almost lost control into the path of a dumptruck. That was the last time I drove the ms3 in the snow, now if theres even a chance i just take the truck.

im just saying, skill means nothing without the proper equipment...

Sounds like you could use some global warming. Call Al

Oddly enough, with global warming we are expected to have higher overall temperatures, but MORE overall precipitation. Guess all the skiers will be moving up north.

Went to the Pocono Mountains for a A+ Certification computer training course for a week. We got POUNDED with snow and I hadn't laughed so hard in my life watching my buddy in his rental Grand Marquis trying to get up the hill to our rooms.

yep it can be nasty up there...

We were almost stuck in our rooms. They were like these super small apartment style rooms, it was like a village type rental place that was a part of the hotel across the street. The door was almost covered in snow. Very interesting experience.

I work in the Poconos, plenty of snow. Luckily if it does snow, I just take a company vehicle
