Before I get to the pictures, I don't want to get any lip from people that see this much snow regularly (especially Buffalo!)
It's been at least 15 years since we've had a proper blizzard in these parts....and Mother Nature decided to unload both barrels.
SO at 10am today, I went out and shoveled the drive of about 9-10 inches of snow. It hadn't been too windy, so there wasn't an excessive amount of drifts and the 20 degrees didn't feel so cold.
7pm rolls around, and the snow hasn't let up one bit. The wind has picked up however... After spending the better part of an hour helping a couple neighbors get into their respective driveways, I decided it was time for the other Kodak moment.
The now not-so-clear-and-drifted driveway:
Up the street (east)
Down the street (west)
The city plows came by, but had trouble with all the drifts in the street. I cleared off the apron--you can almost make out where the driveway ends and where the plows were.
the street is one lane only now, and barely passable.
The back yard:
The wall on the back property line is 3 feet tall. You can only see the row of extra concrete cylinders sitting on top...
This statue is in the middle of the yard, and sits on a 1 foot tall pedestal:
There's roughly a 4-foot wall/drop/fence down to the neighbor's yard...
Now for the kicker... This area (Maple Heights) is an inner-ring suburb just to the southeast of Cleveland. We're just on the southwestern edge of the snow belt for the area. Out there, they usually get twice what we get!
...oh, and it's still snowing...
(sorry for some of the out-of-focus pictures. Mr. Shaky still had plenty of adrenaline in his system from trying to help the neighbors...)
