Small wraps for paint chips

I have a few small chips on my CX-9 that have been painted over with the small brush.

I'm wondering if I can extend how long it will take until they start rusting if I put a small (say, 1" circle) of clear wrap on top of them?

The advantage would be that I don't have to wrap the whole car... First it's a lot cheaper, and also, I've never wrapped a car before and I'm worried over time it will start to look bad, lie the plastic will look scratched.

Thoughts?

If you have already painted over the chip then I dont think wrapping it will slow down rusting. The new rusting on area that touch up has been applied typically comes from under the touch up paint where the metal has previously been exposed. Wrap on car prevents paints chip from happening, but doesn’t really prevent rust from pre-existing chips. If rust comes back i typically remove the new rust with a small dremel back to metal and re-apply touch up paint.

Also the hood on the CX-9 is aluminum, so at least in that area they shouldn’t rust.
