Hi Guys,

I need to get our CX-7 serviced but cant travel too far from home -

there is a small, family run mechanic with a good reputation near by, but Im a bit worried the newer more technical car might not get the best attention from someone like this?

The other option is a mobile mechanic chain that comes to your house to do the service - like LubeMobile - Being a big chain I would feel a bit more comfortable, but can they really do as good a job as a proper workshop?

What do you think? Trust the local small guy or the big mobile chain?

thanks.

PS - just joined, thanks for having me - I hope to learn from you all. :)

You trust the "Local" with a turbocharged Direct Injected engine?

If it is oil changes and rotating tires.. then fine, if it is diagnosing Check engine lights and stuff like that then.. No.0

PS Welcome to the forum..

Cars haven't changed that much that a mechanic wont be able to do his job.

What your really after is inside knowledge regarding the engine and platform. Something that an individual in the big firm might not have either.

I'd be going with the local mechanic, the lube mobile type guys around here are limited in what there able to do. Stuffs alot easier to spot when its up in the air on a hoist then on your back :)

my 2 cents anyways.

EDIT: I will say that if you start hearing funky sounds that the car didnt use to previously make I'd take it to the local guy and another mechanic, just in case. Thought I'd add this as its common sense, but startling common sense isn't so common anymore.
