SLS Performance Front Motor Mount

Installed mine today, best ~$61 Ive spent on the car so far. I can actually coast in 1st gear if I want to without the car thrashing about if I touch the gas. My front half of my front mount was torn, and my side mount is in the same state, so I may buy the side mount one of these days too. Its great to have my 1st gear back, all i was able to use it for before i installed this mount was for starting from a dead stop.

i installed mine yesterday, and i'm getting *quite* noticeable vibrations at idle. makes the dash jump a bit at times! it this a "let it break in" issue? what should my car be idling at? right now its around 500 rpm, and it feels a bit low maybe?

mine is vibrating at idle but i think its cuz my mount is town, check the what have you dont to ur p5 today for pix. supposedly the first tach mark is 500... mine is idling at the 2nd tach :-( idk why so low

Remember these are performance mounts and some vibration is normal, but believe me the little vibration you get from the SLS Performance mounts are not even close to being as harsh as some of the mounts out there.

Torn? The first two are the front mount, last is the passenger side.... :(

yeah, its not unbearable @ idle, and when actually driving its AMAZING. smooth shifts abound ;). what is the durometer rating of these mounts?

I'm not an expert and its hard to tell from your pics, but there is a good chance they are at least partially torn. How many miles are on your car?

about 41k. the last one (side mount) looks torn i think. should that piece be disconnected from the other part of the mount? attached another of side. any better?

My car idles at ~700rpm. Im getting some vibrations at idle and during startup, but they are not terrible and the benefits are worth it. Ive probably only driven 40 miles since I installed it so maybe it will soften up.

To me, none of yours look torn. The center of my torn front mount was resting on the bottom of the mount, rather than being suspended in the center. The factory side mount is a lot beefier than the factory front mount and it has a lot of little channels and whatnot that makes it really hard to tell if it is torn without taking it out. It might might, be torn, but maybe not. If it is torn i dont think it has the impact that a torn front or rear mount might have.
Here is a link to a pic of a torn side mount from SLSs website. maybe it will help.

yea i dont like my car idling so low...i wish i knew why it was......... it's driving me INSANE!

I don't officially know the durometer of the SLS mount. How bad are your vibrations ? Mine are really not bad at all. We might have to meet up and compare the 2. Have you got just the front mount in ? I do know that the SLS front mount vibrates way less than my 62 durometer SU front mount did.

are these SRS mounts softer than the 70 durometer AWR mounts?

A little bit of dash and steering wheel at idle. I can feel it through the seat as well. I only have the front, would adding the rear reduce vibrations? My idle seems a bit low, could that cause it? I'm gonna check my vacuum lines tomorrow. I've been digging under that hood quite a bit recently, might have knocked one off ;)

I'm not sure about adding the rear and what affect it would have on vibs. I will probably pick up the side one from SLS before too long and see what that does. What are you idling at ? I wanna say mine hangs right around 700 rpms.......

Halfway between 1k and the bottom, I'm guessing that means 500.
That should mean 750, actually, as I believe the first little notch on the tach represents 500 rpm.

I just got mine and installed it! Impressions are pretty good. The vibrations are still a bit more than I expected, but I think I can get used to it.

I have a question, though. How tight is the bolt going through the center of the mount supposed to be? The service manual doesn't have a torque specification. Is it supposed to be tight to hold the engine snug, or loose enough to allow rotational motion of the engine about the bolt's axis?

Any word as to what the torque spec for the bolts are? Also what's the status on the rear mount? Are you going to work on the driver's side mount as well? I have noticed in doing my timing belt that the side is ripped and I will probably be picking up the front and side mounts. Also I have noticed that the passenger side mount has a brace, but your side mount does not use it, why?

i torqued it pretty good with my impact wrench...i dont know the specs but i think i has to be pretty tight. On my motor, the bracket that bolts to the engine has a slotted hole. If it isnt tight, then the bolt will bounce around in the slot and probably wear out and maybe shear off eventually.
