Sirius deletes aux input - MS3???

When I bought my MS3, they didn't have the Sirius to install, so l I had to wait a month for that to get put in. The dealer sent it to an aftermarket place to get it installed. Today I went to use my 1/8 input in the center console for my Ipod, and the Media button didn't do anything (like when you don't have Sirius installed, pressing the SAT button does nothing).

Does the installation of Sirius delete the Aux input by default, or did some hacks f*ck my sh*t up?

The OEM sirius uses the same port on the HU that the ACI, ipod adapter, or phatbox use. There is an optional switchbox mazda carries that allows you to have the ACI, and one of the other options above both hooked up together.

Check the audio input thread at the top of this forum.

So, even tho the aux in jack and the Sirius are both OEM, only one will work at a time unless I purchase something else? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why would they go through the hassle of installing an aux in jack in the center console, if it's just going to be rendered inoperable if you opt for Sirius?

Not mad at the messenger, just frustrated with Mazda (and my reoccurring CEL on a new car ...).

I'm going to guess that the reason is because the HU wasn't initially designed with an integrated aux input, and they added one later since basically every other company offers inputs. It's a lot easier for them to just add something that plugs in rather than designing a new HU.

And yes it's completely lame. :(

Part Number for the splitter you need is TD13-79-CFZ. As I understand, it makes it so Sirius and Aux Jack can both be hooked up.

I'm hoping for something similar for the CX-7 ;)
