Can please someone with the Signature trim or knowledge about his details let me know what is the "LED lighting around the gearshift" means?

This is what we expect on every trim (can be different based on Country/Location... my GT have AWD and leds on the Grill)

Power driver seat
Heated front seat
heated side mirrors

Touring Model:

Blind Spot Monitoring
Rear cross traffic alert
keyless entry

8 inch screen

Optional Touring Premium Package:

NAV
Smart City Brake support

Grand Touring:

AWD
Nappa Leather
rosewood trim
Led lighting around gearshift
Led accents on the grille

Yeah what he said. Really the big difference is the amber interior - it's what convinced me to get the signature trim. The seats are a bit softer with the Napa leather than the GT. The led stuff I could take or leave.

For me, the auburn Nappa leather is the primary reason to go Signature. It's a selling point for the whole vehicle actually. I'm amazed when people say they don't like it, but to each their own.

one weird thing though........

Signature also forces buyers to get AWD even if they don't need or want it, now extra headache with transfer case maintenance,
I rather have Signature without AWD. Data shows that less components = more reliability as confirmed by previous generation CX-9's
the FWD models lasted a lot longer without transfer case headaches. Surprised Mazda doesn't give a option for Signature buyers.....only AWD.

Speaking of AWD vs FWD, I wonder if 2016 CX-9 FWD owners are getting better MPG than AWD owners.

Also, about the Auburn Nappa color, I bet Mazda will add more Signature leather options like black Nappa in the near future, that's an easy option for them to add, I even read somewhere in the pre-release details that there would be two color Nappas, Auburn and Black.

I'd want the AWD even if I was in a southern climate. 310 Ib ft of torque is a lot to the front wheels. Looking at torque steer. The AWD makes the driving dynamics much better under acceleration and on the twisties. Especially when one buys a Mazda with the hopes of superb driving dynamics. Plus it rains down south and AWD makes a good difference there too. IMO, an SUV without AWD is sacrilege.

Signature isn't that much different than GT. If you don't want AWD, GT is a nicely equipped choice. But the Ford transfer case should be gone...

What I would like to know is if the transfer cases on the awd models have a drain plug. This would make maintaining it that much easier. Has anyone jacked up their car yet to see if the transfer case is different and has a drain plug.

well I wanted AWD and like the other dude said this car in fwd would be terrible - ass would be all over the place.

I agree. AWD it's very useful with today technology. The AWD in the CX9 don't work like regular AWD with a snow, sand, etc switch. Instead, it's a clever 22-27 sensors reading signals at 200 times x sec in order to redirect the power to front or rear tires. To share an idea, one of the sensor is the rain sensor used for the wipers. As soon as the sensor detect the rain (and depending of the intensity) the AWD kick in and distribute power to all tires to provide better stability.

I have the GT (Signature not available in my country) but we have now only the CX9 GT with AWD. No sport, no FWD, no signature for now so there is only one available model and I'm happy I get the AWD. BTW, my GT have the front grill led, internal led accents on the doors (not in the center console) but I don't have the lane assist / radar cruise control. Anyway, was a great purchase (GT red AWD) at 32,000 USD. I believe is a great purchase because is well equipped.

Very happy with the unit (I had the old cx9 v6 for 6 years) so I know very well the difference between both models.

13,000 USD difference for the signature, just for the nappa and rosewood don't deserve it, at least in my case. Here only the GT is available at 32,000. And the Signature will be available on dealers on october for 45,000. This is a 13,000 difference, it's huge. I believe the GT give me the best bang for my buck.

That's ridiculous. It's roughly $2,500 difference in the US between AWD GT vs Signature. Are you sure you're looking at Grand Touring? You should only be getting a base model Sport for $32K.

Yeah what he said the difference is 2500 .... plus I wound paying GT MSRP for a signature after wheeling and dealing.

I'm not looking for the GT, I purchased the first GT AWD in MX City 1+ month ago.

I'm sure is the GT because it's clear in my Invoice and I read a lot before purchase. I have: AWD, Moonroof, Leather everywhere, 20 inch wheels, Led lights with AFLS, Heated mirrors, One touch power windows in all doors, Remote keyless entry, Rearview camera + sensors, Bluetooth, BOSE audio with 12 speakers and subwoofer, 8 inch display, Power rear liftgate, BSM, Rear cross traffic alert, Homelink, auto on/off headlights and rain sensing windshield wipers, heated fron seats, power driver seats (driver and passenger), led fog lights, Blind Monitoring BSM, Chrome front, read and molding, Color projected HUD (Active Driving Display), Aluminium interior trim, Keyless entry, Keyless start, Led grill accent lighting.

The price difference is because we don't have the high tech you have on USA available (lane departure, smart brake and radar cruise control).

BTW: I have the red soul (normally an extra 300 USD payment on USA).

and I pay extra 250 USD for warranty extension (from 3 to 6 years!).

The GT price in MX is 33,000 but I pay 32,000 due to loyalty and negotiation (I had the CX9 2011 V6).
