Side Marker Tint

I have the 2002 p5 with the 2 side markets (blinkers) idk what you'd call them.
I was curious if I could change the bulbs to red? Is that legal, and how would I do that? And where can I get a smoked/black tint for those?

Also red turn signal bulbs for the front and the rear. Where can I get those?

Red turn signals are probably illegal but you may be able to get away with them.

For tinting, you wanna go with a spray paint called VHT Nightshades.

you can buy LEGAL red bulbs now... they have been legalized a year or two ago... but ONLY the ones that are properly made, not that 3rd world junk
you won't find these in stores, and you'll have to go to a light bulb specialty supplier that sells PR21W and WR21W bulbs
they must have ECE and SAE markings printed on the bulbs too, or they're illegal

I personally wanna get red bulbs for the running lights, anyone know if I can find those in any local auto store?

Get those little rubber sleeves that they sell in the automotive section at the supermarket or at autozone. I had mine red for a while and they looked great.

You put them on the running lights/turn signals? They are orange so I'm not sure if a red sleeve cover would work.

ha fishdonotbounce it's funny that u commented :] I was checking out all ur videos with all ur turbo stuff yesterday. s***'s pretty sick I'm jealous.

But uh back tot he thread where can I get those legal lights from exactly?
and where can i get that VHT Nightshades stuff?

I'm going for the whole red/black theme so if i could get red running lights that'd be sick

Haha thanks man. But yea I just put the sleeves over my amber turn signals/running lights and they were red. Not orangish red either. Let me see if I still have them cause I may have two pair I could just send to both of you.

The Niteshade can be bought at O'Reilly's, that's the only local auto store I know of that carries it. Be weary though, it's about $11/can, and I would get clear on top of that for whatever you're tinting.

Fish - Where can I get the sleeves? I might go run out and get some along with some Niteshade.

Ok, if you don't have any extra sleeve's where could I get them from? And I can put sleeve's over the rear lights too right? What about the side markers how would i do those?

And what do u mean by clear ontop of the niteshade? Just like some clearcoat?

You should be able to find the sleeves at the automotive section in walmart, meijer, target etc or maybe at the auto parts store like autozone. I found mine where the tie wraps were and where the turn signal bulbs were as well. Just check everywhere. They come in various sizes. If you can't find them, I'll look at the meijer right by my house and see if they're still there. If they are you can throw like 5 bucks my way and I'll buy them and ship em out to ya. Actually a better thing to do would be to just order some red LED bulbs.

Here you go.

I found plenty of LED's however they are the bayonet base (push and turn) instead of ours which uses a direct plug. I'll look around and see if I can find those sleeves.

Are these what they look like?

It looks like they are stretchable rubber?

How would I take the side markers out to paint them? screws behind the body I'm guessing? And the red running lights looks sick

Did you do the rear ones also or just the fronts? Because you could do the rear turn signals too.

I did the rear as well. I've taken them out since but they did look pretty good.

The sidemarkers are really easy to pull out. You pull the either towards the back or front of the bumper (can't remember exactly which way) and then pull them out. You'll see what I mean.

I'm highly considering the red LED the sleeves could still work though, not sure yet. I have an idea of what I'm gunna do now though

Don't waste your money on the LED's online, they use a different connection base.

Fish, do you by chance remember how many sleeves come per pack?
