So, I posted pictures of the car on my welcome thread of what the car looks like now.....I got the car of IAAI auto auction damaged to the front. When i saw pictures on the IAAI website, it didnt look bad at all. Front bumper, hood, fender and headlight. THATS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE. HA ya right. I take off the exterior stuff and it turns out headlight brackets are busted, air flow plastic busted, grill busted, windshield washing resevoir busted, bumper reinforcement busted, and the frame rails are bent to the right a bit. YAY. Luckily The radiator and cooling fans and all that was good. So, i decided to make a rebuilt thread. Im sure there are people out there just like me that like to see transformations.

Heres the car as of now....

You've got your hands full, but cool project, can't wait to see it come together.

You should repaint it though...a nice whitewater pearl would look nice--not that I'm biased or anything.(yes)

Can't wait to see the progress man. Look on the bright side, a FMIC install will be easy at this point! Also I envy your garage, looks like quite a place.

where can i get some OEM headlights for 180?

I got one passenger side headlight for 150 if you want it. got broken tabs though. An easy fix.... :)

I would LOVE to repaint the whole car but the sucky thing is the frame would still be silver and that would look dumb. The door jams and engine bay would still be silver. It would look goofy.

The garage is pretty cool but man does it get messy sometimes. The bigger the place, the more there is to clean up :)

Looks like a sweet project! There was another guy on this forum who also re-built a speed 6.

Keep us posted:).

lol this is definetely not my first project. Other projects include:

2006 saturn vue. Damage to roof. Changed the entire roof.
2001 saturn sc2. Damage to side. HUGGGEEE project. biggest one i had
2000 honda civic SI. Definetely one of the funnest. When i get settled, im getting another
2007 subaru legacy. Most recent before the ms6. Loved the car but SOOOO much pain. Blew the headgasket on her. If anyoneone knows a thing or two about subie heads, trust me, theyre a pain to change the head gaskets on.

I love projects. Buy them cheap, sell them then upgrade. I started from the saturn which i got for 3000 and with buying selling and not adding any of my own cash, got up to this mazda. Sold the subie for 9500 :) its good stuff.

Hopefully, this week the frame rails will get unbent and ill start assembling. Im juggling school, a new job at the airport, and trying to become a US citizen with this car. Im from ukraine and have been a legal resident up til now. :) Hopefully will become a FELLOW AMERICAN on may 12. :) OOOHHHH SAY CAN YOU SEEE SHURIKS ABOUT TO BE AN AMERICAN G.

Thanks alot :)

So, a little update on things. Im getting the car towed to a shop i know of to get them frame rails starighted. After putting the new bumper reinforcement up to the bolt holes, it looks like the rails are pretty off. Sucks :( must of been hit a little harder than expected. No biggie though. To straighten them its going to cost me around 200 bucks. Not a big deal. Once shes home and done tomorrow, ill post pictures of before and after. after the rails are straight, im going to start getting the little parts and start assembling. WOOT WOOT. resurrection is right around the corner baby :)

UPDATE:

So, Took her to the shop yesterday and got the frame rails fixed. Got it brought back home today and finally started putting it back together. Here are some pics of what she looks like now. ITS EXCITING! haha

A few things i still need:

Grill
Thing behind grill that directs air in the other thing on the hood
Passenger foglight, foglight bracket and foglight cover
WIndshield washing resevoir
Hood

and a few other bits and pieces that i just cant remember right now. Going downhill from here on out.

I also got my COBB shortram intake and inlet that i want to put on pretty soon here. Still looking for a set of springs so if anyone has a set, im willing to buy them..Im going out to the dealer tomorrow to order all the little stuff. Does a figlight from a regular 6 fit on this one? Hopefully more pics to come soon after i clean her and put the fender and bumper on :)

Dang, thats going to turn out pretty expensive for the foglight. Sucks. Oh well i guess

If you haven't, you should look here: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214264&chapter=&Sectionids=0,2276&groupid=51817&subgroupid=9051&componentid=0&make=22&model=MAZDA6&year=2006&graphicID=5440710&callout=11&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0. At that link, it looks like the fog light over is only about $20...not sure if that is everything you need though. Look around, you should be able to find a lot of the parts you need and can compare iwth the dealer prices. Good luck on the build.

Car's looking good so far. When I get a house with a garage I would love to have a project like this.
I have a white MS6 grill. A couple of the tabs are broken but I think if you put a little double sided tape on it, the other tabs would hold it on just fine. Send me a PM if you are interested. I would sell it for $50 plus shipping
