Shriek shortly after start?

I get a 1/2 second shrieking sound - audible but not extreme - about 2 minutes after I take off, esp from cold start. Always sounds the same. Guessing must be a timed or temp-controlled event, triggering something that maybe needs lubed. No big deal, other than thinking something may be near failure.

How old are your belts?

Belts are pretty new & tight. This sounds kinda like a little electric motor really turning fast that needs lube. Maybe the electric motor that drives the EGR?

Doubtful that it's the EGR. How loud is it? Are they Mazda or aftermarket belts? Is the A/C on when this happens?

On the Miata, just about every belt from Advance that I've had on there shrieks on startup.

not at startup. once and only once. about 2 minutes after startup. You wait for it cus you know it's coming...
