Like JKidd said... Offset 20I am far from a wheel/fitment/stance professional...
Contemplating 19x9's with either +32 or +20 offset and 245/50 19 tires to maintain the rolling diameter for AWD, and ability to use the spare.

In the past I used spacers with proper extended lugs to perfect the offset. But with lug nuts I don't want to mess with spacers.
I feel like +20 is a bit extreme, but the online calculators show that it lines up with the stock inner wheel. Only issue is that it pushes out the scrub radius a bit, and possible fender clearance if/when lowered.

I feel like there is more to the equation as well...
- Hub centric rings as the CX5 is 67.1 and these wheels are 72.6
- Should I be considering lug stud diameter as well?
- Lug nuts (I know that there are different versions to be aware of)
- TPMS sensors?
My thinking... People are running 25mm spacers with the stock wheels (45 offset), which leaves it at 20mm and it looks great. But, come to think of it, that's with a 7" wide wheel. Another 2" would be a bit extreme. Back to the drawing board.
There's a reason most wheel shops won't sell rims lower than a 35 or 38 offset.
Can you run lower offset? Sure, you can do anything.
But should you run wide 9" wheels with lower offset?
You risk rubbing the suspension during turns as well as possibly tearing your fender apart. Plus potential camber adjustments, etc.
Not to mention your changing the dynamics of the vehicle. Pushing the weight out is going to affect acceleration and handling, as well as wear down your suspension and braking components, etc., etc.
The further you go out, the cx5 isn't going to be the same.
If you want to change it that drastically, consider trading it in and getting a Jeep or a true sports car.
