Should I Turbo My 01 Ls Or Should I Just Buy A Mazdaspeed Miata??????

I seriously cannot decide between the two in terms of reliability I think the msm is better but is it worth the money for 36 more hp compared to what the FM kits and other put out...any input is welcome!!!!

hard to go wrong with an FM kit honestly. plus it beats paying for a newer car

If I had to do it again, I would've bought an 01-04 and installed a BEGI turbo kit. The stock MSM ecu sucks - fuel cut at 10 psi, car runs lean until 4500 rpm then wham it goes rich and there's a big power surge. Sure, you can fix this by spending $$$ on a standalone ecu but right there is 30% the cost of an aftermarket turbo kit.

yeah i test drove a MSM and could not figure out why it seems like the fun factor although is better than my car it seemed like it took forever to build power in between 4 and 5krpm than once u get to 6500 thats all she wrote...is that something that could be adjusted like 3k..or is it one of those things you will just have to live with...still a fun car 4500 is not my ideal surge..i think 3k is good..i will look into the BEGI thanks

unless a tuner can crack the code and reflash the ECU, no, it can't be changed. it's simply one of the dumbest things I've ever seen an engineer do. they add lag as to not 'overpower' the driver with too much boost at lower rpms and totally kill the fun factor.

with the gearing so short, by the time the power kicks in at 5000 rpm, you're already at the limiter.
