Should i buy a rx8?

So before anyone tells me to go read all the other forums with people asking the same question, i have a very specific question.
the car im looking at has 130k kms on it, so its out of warranty.
Im thinking about trading my 92 skyline gtr for it because a 2004 should be more reliable then a 92 right? but maybe im wrong.
my car is worth 16000, i dont think any rx8 with that many kms is worth that.

any comments would be really appreciated! thanks everyone!

Not sure where you are, so I can't comment of the value of local RX8's, but I can say it sounds like you should be able to swing a lightly used 05 or even 06. If so I would go for it. The 04's had more problems than the later years in RX8's, but even an 04 can be a very reliable car if it is maintained properly. Here in the States all the engines are warenteed for 8yrs/100,000 miles, but I am not sure how that translates elsewhere.

Are you looking at an Auto or Manual transmission? There is a very big difference in the 04 RX8's so this is important.

i will it was just a fact not an opinion. sorry to get ur pannies in a bunch. atleast us msp guys know when to admit when another car is better than ours we r not blinded though our cars need alot of work it takes a real tunner to take on the challenge the msp has to bring.n also i am a fan of the rx-8 i was gonna get one

Just because something is rare doesn't mean its better... Given the choice of one or the other I'd choose RX8 over skyline without even thinking about it. RX8 offers one of the best balanced chassis on the road. It has an infinitely nicer interior than the skyline, and it looks much better. Is it fast - not really. Can it be - not really. Is it fun - yes. Is it more common - yes. Can I pickup parts at any number of local dealers and parts stores - yes. To each his own.

alright cpmpared to a 92 skyline prolly so ur right but do the research i did i even know how to get them in the stated but its gonna cost some serious flow. get u a 99 -02 skyline compared to a top off the line rx8. skyline still wins hands down not sayin nissan is better than mazda. but check they finally brought the gtr to the states n thr fukn crazy what thr askin for it just ive done the research on skylines. u know what its like the thread on msp section about the mas being compared to a z06 corvette theres no comparrison not even in the same category same with skyline n rx-8 know if he would of said rx-7 different ball game cuz rx8 is a ****** up remake of rx-7. know rx-7 and skyline r in the same category that would be a tought choice.....

Actually I answered the OP almost three weeks ago. You obviously have a pretty dim view of the RX8 so why troll the RX8 section? Think about it this way different people will experience the same car in different ways. Seems to me the OP is trying to figure out if the RX8 will be a good compromise for him. Myself and a few other folks who regularly frequent the RX8 section have given our opinion, asked questions of the OP and tried to help him with that decision. What have you contributed to this conversation?
