Shot Peening, Engine Coatings...

What's the point, to do this you have to take the internals out and replace all the gaskets to stick stock crap back in? Waste of time and money. You do this to make forge stuff even stronger.
 
I don't understand how this would be cheaper. You would still have to rip apart the block and get the treatment done and put it all back together. You might as well just rip apart the block, put it the rods (can find forged rods for around 465), and be on your way hassle free. If you find an honestly cheaper way of doing business then please let me know.
 
no, i dont mean to the whole motor, i meant to only the pistons and rods...i was reading in the archives and someone brought it up...

Pistons and rods pretty much IS the "whole motor"...or at least the bottom half. The fact is that to get to them you still have to take the engine apart, and if you're gonna do that then you might as well go forged while you're in there.
 
I had my pistons coated when my build was in the process. I was told its suppose to also reduce heat.
 
thanks for the input guys, so if the motor is going to be opened up, its better to just go forged...
