Short Shifter

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about getting a short shifter for my P5. Is it worth it? Anyone here have a short shifter installed? If so, how's your experience been? Thx.

I'm sure you will find tons of great info if you do a search. There seem to be three camps: B&M, Kartboy and TWM. Personally, I have the B&M and love it. One of the best mods I have done.

I've heard B&M was the best around.

I've never had a B&M nor a TMW short shifter, but I do have a kartboy shifter and it does make a lot difference on shifting. Its tight and hard to shift on gears at the first week you install it but right after it settles, its a nice firm shifter.

Also the Bushings would also help....

I don't recall exactly what I paid for it... something like $100 or so. There are a few great vendors on this board that can hook you up. The best advantage for me was the feel of it... I'm not much into speed shifting - it's a good way to bend s*** up.

I don't know if they are the best, but they have a strong following.

I just installed a Kart Boy shifter and bushings. I would recommend this to everyone. $145.00 for everything shipped. It takes about 45minutes to an hour for the whole project.

Jethro - what are "bushings"?

the bushings are under the car. stock ones are rubber and have a lot of flex to them. if you put in a poly bushing like the one by kartboy it gives the shifter a more direct and solid feel...makes it less "gummy" the bushing is easy to instal. just put the car on ramps, (if i remember correctly a 14 mm wrench) it'll take like 10-15 min depending on how easy the bushing wants to come out. its great mod.
