Hello there, new member!

Has anyone here removed the 3 inch extension to make a short shifter? If so how does it feel? How does it look? etc?

A how to and pics would be great. Thanks:)

Simply shortening the shifter will not have much effect. In order to get the full effect you need to move the pivot point of the lever.

For me the issue wasn't so much the shifter height, or even the length of the "throw" (although shorter is nicer) but I hated the wishy-washy "feel" of the stock unit.

I found out when I got it out that it was the nylon split rings above and below the shifter fulcrum ball that gave the stock unit it's "mystery feel."

I went with the B&M unit, which has a precision machined ball and socket assembly which doesn't depend on the installation snap ring to keep it's tolerances tight - What a difference.

The B&M unit is worth it's price in feel alone, not to mention the much shorter throws.

Changing just the shifter did it for me - It was a little TOO tight for the first 4 or 5K miles after installing the B&M - Perfect now. I'd be afraid to put your bushings in it now, as it would surely be tighter than when I first changed the shifter, if indeed there is that much flex in the OEM shifter bushing ;)

if all you want to do is get rid of that "mushy " feeling then the Kartboy shifterbushings are what you need :)

Auto Short Shifter?

Hahaha here's a strange strange question I don't know if anyone has thought of it and OK I'M A LAZY ASS and skipped out on the fun of having a Manual Transmission.... But has anyone ever made the shifter on their automatic shorter? I have a 02 PR5 with the sport shift and was thinking it would be nice if it was shorter whenever I had it in manual... or "fake" manual as my friend puts it hehehe any suggestions? Take in the fact that I DON'T want to be cutting anything just so that it'd be shorter.

What point would that serve? Anyway, without cutting I don't think there is a way to make it shorter.

Auto Short Shift?

OH!!!!! I never scrolled side ways hahahaha didn't notice that hahaha.... Is there any way to keep the auto format the way it is but just to shorten the stick? I unscrewed the knob and DAMN that thing is long!

hahahaha I like that "Got boost" hahahaha I assume urs is black from that lil'pic? Hey the fogs are H3 right? I just put some in a month ago and they already blew! if anything I think my friend or me may have accidentally touched the bulb.... Those fogs are such a pain to change!
