Dealer said my bad shock is not covered by warranty. Is that true? I have the totalcare extended warranty. They want $225 to fix it. Is that fair?

Thanks for the help.

If you are under the bumper to bumper 3yr/36,000 then its covered. Outside of that, No its not.

Stock but I guess shocks are not covered in extended warranty (40k miles) so I gotta suck it up. Oh well, thanks for the help.

well def don't pay 225. I'd switch to a better shock for slightly more, and you will get 4 instead of one lol. That price is crazy.

I don't know about 4 for $225... I wouldn't put monroe or any of the budget brands on anything I enjoyed driving. I'd replace both rears (or all 4 if you can) with Koni FSD's or Yellows set on soft. It'll cost more than $225 for a pair, but they'll last longer.

Yeah I would get aftermarket ones but your dealer might throw a fit if you tell them about it. Im going to get H&R's for my speed 6. If I had a 3 I would probably grab Cobb's.

yeah once they blow its silly to replace the crappy stocks with another crappy stock. Take this opportunity to upgrade if you can spare the cash..

from what i've been told, this is the worst part on these cars... and seem to be problematic... i'm sure i'll have my issues sooner or later, thanks to bad houston roads....

also, never hurts to try another dealer.... though that might not be an option.

I have my car at mazda right now getting both the rear shocks replaced and they are also replacing the gear oil as the car was sapposed to be switched to 75w90 at the initial service date. My car has 29k on it and they are covering even the gear oil (cool). Try to talk with them on the shocks because there is a TSB out here for the leaking shock. How many miles do you have on the car? If you are out of the 3/36 might not be as easy.
