I recently installed new springs and didn't replace the shocks, the drop is 2" in the Front and 1.75" in the back. Since i put the springs on i've been getting a really loud annoying clunking noise everytime i hit a bump...i think everything was installed correctly....could the noise be the shocks or something else.....PLEASE HELP!!!!

it is most likely not the struts. how many miles are on your car? what kind of noise is it? does it sound like metal to metal? did you replace the strut plates also? i work at a general repair shop and when i first started doing struts i noticed a lot of the times the old strut plate would make a knocking noise over bumps. so now i make sure to inspect the strut plates when i am inspecting struts

Ugh, search. You will probably need to put a washer on the strut rod bolt. Very common problem.

i had a clunk with my P5 after slammed on RacingBeat springs. problem was that the guys who did the install wrecked my rear sway bar endlinks (which are a b**** to get off) and stripped them out big time. so likewise one of the endlinks popped off the sway bar and so evertime i went over a bump the popped endlick would tap the bottom of the body which makes a good clunk noise.

take a look under there and if you have this problem you ll see what i mean.

not the endlinks ....went through that whole problem had to replace them...80 bucks from the dealer....my car has 32k miles on it ....what is the strut rod bolt is that the bolt on top of the strut that is accessable from under the hood?.....also if i took my car to a local mechanic to troubleshoot the problem would they just tell me to replace the struts or do oyu think they would be able to come up with a easily solution...please respond......thanks

narrow down the problem, first find out exactly where its coming from, once that is done remove the strut assembly and redo the spring again, its more likely that the spring is not set right on the boot,...

when i did my install about 6 weeks ago with TEIN-S springs, i took my time and did, because ive run into this problem before with one of my other cars. the hardest, or quite possibly the easiest part is to figure out which ones messed up, after that its a simple redo of what you did. i just hope its one of the back ones, because they are much easier to install that the front ones.
another thing, use the correct torque on the bolts.

let me know if that works out.
