Shifting with Auto Sport

Just curious has how do you guys/gals shift with your auto sport tranny?

As for me I try to shift between 4k RPM and 5k RPM, with every gear. Am I hurting the tranny in anyway? Or is there a certain way to shift with the auto sport?

Thanks

i find shifting in that region gives a little more "spirited" driving, but usually, i granny shift between 2500-3K rpm. it saves gas this way, even though it's really really really really slow. like molasses. there's nothing in the manual about when to shift and such (minus max speeds in particular gears), so i would imagine that there is really no harm in shifting at those rpms. i have driven it in the regular auto mode and the engine's computer shifts at about 3k-3k5 on its own. if you keep it at wot, it'll go to 4k-5k easily. so, yeah, if the car's computer is doing it, i'm sure nothing is going to happen if you manually do it. I only use it when I want more revs, like when I'm going into a tight U-turn. I'll start it in 2nd and bump into 1st at the apex and then floor it so I'll be at 5000-5500 as I shoot out. The same thing if I'm cruising the highway maybe doing 70 at like 3500 rpms and I want to pass, I just slide it into manual, bump into 3rd and shoot up to 4500-5000 and use the power. If I'm worried about MPG I just stay in auto.

i dont use my sport shift because my fiancees brother (mp5ry) just had his transmission replaced from using it all the time. he got his car in august and used the sport shift at all times for 6 months (he never used automatic). he started having problems one day like his car would not rev past 3000 rpms and he couldnt go faster than 55mph. i know its under warranty but i dont want ot lose my car for two and a half weeks like he did.

How hard was he shifting? over 5000 rpm each gear?

IMO, if you shift under 4000 rmp ...you would be fine....

well, it's what i'm doing....

;) only time is use it is when im trying to haul, ill shift when the needle hits 5 and it shifts to the next gear before it hits 5500. sometimes i hit 6 if in concentrating ona turn
