Guys, have the manual tranny on MS with only 7.500km (Bought 1/2008), and a brand new tranny, clutch, flywheel changed @ 7.000km because it had problems with the 1st gear.

The new gearbox does the following: When in 4th gear, accelarating over 3.000rpm or a bit load on a slightly angled uphill, I get a strong shaking on the shifter knob. All other gears have no shake on the knob.
Dealer says its normal, not all cars are copy-paste...

Any ideas on what the reason could be? Another defective gearbox? or something else?

Thanx.

I have had the same 4th gear "wobble" sensation in the shifter since day 1. Never really considered it a problem as it only happens under certain loads/RPMs and hasn't given off any strange noises or other problems.

I never hold on to the shifter when accelerating - just quick shifts and let go. Both hands on the steering wheel will solve your problem, guaranteed.

so your hand on it makes it wobble? thats like turning up the radio to get rid of that nasty detonation.

I have same under load never considered it was a problem and still don't... could be worse you could hit a pot hole then you'll really feel you're whole car shake!!

(drive)Keeping both hands on the wheel while driving is a good habit. Keeping your hand on the shifter while accelerating is a bad habit, more so in a torque steer happy ms3.
OP needs to go to the dealer to get it checked out since we don't know how bad the shaking is. I have notices however slightly heavier vibration in 4th than in any other gears. This is the case on both ms3 that i have in my household, so i believe its normal.
It would be dumb to cover up detonation with the stereo, but interior rattles that are hard to get to, are easier remedied by volume button.

4th gear knob

Thing is that all other gears feel almost rock-solid on the gear knob, regardless of load. It's only @ 4th gear under load that I get this strong shake. You can't see it on a naked eye but you sure feel a strong vibration on hand.

The issue is, does it come from the gear box ? (brand new) or from engine / gearbox movement? And if the later, why only on 4th gear?
