Service History not tracked by Mazda

I find it very curious that the vehicle service history isn't tracked under MyMazda unless I manually enter the detailed information (which is a real pain considering everything that is checked). My other car is a Toyota Prius and ever service done by a Toyota Dealer automatically gets posted to the My Toyota history.

This isn't a lot of work for Mazda but it indicates to me that they haven't really figured out how to keep owners really happy.

This isn't a lot of work for Mazda but it indicates to me that they haven't really figured out how to keep owners really happy.

I personally feel this is not a big deal and I don't go to the dealer often unless I need warranty service or buying the EOM parts. Compare to Toyota, Mazda is a very small car company especially since Ford left the company. It needs to survive in this very competitive industry and to link all dealer's computer network and integrate into Mazda North American Operations' system could cost too much money for them. I can tell Mazda dealers' computer system is very out of date when we're buying our CX-5 and getting the parts.

There is hardly any maintenance needed on such a modern car. I just past 24,000 miles and I've spent a total of about $69 at the dealer (oil change). I did change the oil once myself (quicker and better than making a special trip to the dealer) and the first service was free.

I don't see how dealerships are going to make a profit with cars this reliable.

I actually found out the oil used for oil change by my dealer is some brand I've never heard of. If I want Mazda moly 0W-20 or Castrol oil as specified in the owner's manual, I have to tell them in advance and pay more. So don't assume the Mazda dealers will use Mazda or Castrol oil for your oil change! Naturally I decline the "free oil change" offer as oil change on CX-5 is the easiest I've ever seen after I saw the YouTube video.

I don't see how dealerships are going to make a profit with cars this reliable.

Mine have been updated sporadically on the mymazda website. But, on the mycarfax website it seems to be consistently up to date with dealer visits.

I agree, never assume anything. I told my dealer I wanted the first change done with the Mazda Moly because of it's excellent reputation and was willing to pay the difference. They said they would do it at their expense.
