i'm at work and i was gonna go out to pick up some food for someone. i'm at a light and i feel what i thought was just the car hiccupping and i look in my rear view mirror and see an old couple in an old white car just looking at me but as if they were just waiting in traffic to move. i drive to the restaurant parking lot and check the back. YES, they bumped me. i saw an indentation of a screw. it's very small but is still there. i'm really pissed off at old people right now. they bumped me and didn't even have the courtesy to tell me. they just drove off.

anyway, i'm just wondering how much you guys think it would cost to get it fixed. it's not a dent, but more like a deep scratch. someone told me that it shouldn't cost anything more than 100 bux. the car only has 980 miles on it too.

Yes, I agree, old people shouldn't drive. I have seen way too many old people that look like they are out of it driving down the road.

I have been at the DMV and seen old people in there getting their license renewed. The officer practically gives them the answers.

Once you hit 70 you should no longer be allowed to drive.

Thank you and goodnight :)

That's suck!! That happen to me at Laguna Hills Mall... Try calling Hi-tech something (it's in Lake Forest right by Dynamic Autosports)or M2 Collisions (that's in Mission Viejo or RSM).

omfg... today a dumb ass old b**** in a mustang almost hit me! we were driving on a small 2 laned road.... (kinda hard to descriibe) without any warning and no signals or anything- this CRAZY b**** busts a u-turn nearly DIRECTLY into my drivers door!! I slam on the brakes and swerve onto the shoulder just in time to avoid her rediculous ****** u-turn. youll be glad to know i had all my windows down and was enjoying a banana at the time so u can believe i hit that ****** car with that banana at 100 miles an hour. The thing that pissed me off the most is that 10 seconds later she stops at a stop sign for a solid 6 seconds to say hi the crossing guard at the elementary school we were near. quite a few small children learned sum colorful words this morning... ill bet you that

If its a repaint expect about $300 or more for labor and paint. We got a quote for $750 for a small dent in the front fender.

dude, that same thing almost happened to me at a gas station once like 2 weeks after i got my car...i was waiting to leave and this old guy in this HUGE boat of a car was inching up behind me...and was LOOKING OUT HIS WINDOW THE OTHER WAY (WHO THE **** KNOWS WHY), i WAS LIKE WTF ****** STOP so i just wailed my horn and he looked back in front and slammed his brakes...i was like OMG U IDIOT

i backed up into a pole and put a dent the size of my tailight. the dent is just to teh left of the tailight above the bumper part. it wa realyl deep and i poped it out from teh trunk but the area that seprated the bumper from the upper part is dented in and the roove in to body has a dent in it,.. aslo my carbon fiber altezza cracked up.. is taht goin to cost me a fortune to fix

every time i see them come near my car i cringe!
mspeedpro that story im sorry was some funny s***!:D

went to see someone i know at mazda. he said all that really needs to be done is have someone wet sand it then prime it or whatever. how much do you think this should cost? they told me nothing more than 100 bucks. but for such a small spot?!

thanks for the info. i just emailed both of them for estimates. i just wanted to get some sort of idea to how much it would be. it's just a deep scratch on my bumper.

I'll bet the dumbass didn't even know he bumped you.

But I must take some offense to this post. My dad turned 80 in November and he has no issues at all behind the wheel of a car. So not all old people are complete idiots behind the wheel.

The fact that my dad is 80 makes you think I'm like 40 or 50. Not the case, I'm only 25 years old. Well 26 on the 8th of April.

well my feelings on the age thing is that if you can't walk without the assistance of a cane or walker or something, you definately shouldn't be driving. I think older people should have to take a different kind of test. To make sure that they can properly drive a vehicle in today's conditions. Takem out into downtown traffic at rush hour. If they get more than 10 fingers thrown at them, flunk em :).

EDIT: Second thinking,

My great grandfather drove till he was 95, died at 97. I really don't think he should have been driving at that age. But you can't look an elderly person in the face and tell them that they shouldn't be doing something. It just doesn't seem right. There should be a study with the number of accidents involving cell phones, and the number involving elderly. Just to see which is more. I bet it's pretty close :)

true.. I always thought old people shouldnt drive for saftey reasons, but common they have been through so much in their lives now you want to take their cars away from them? They need to get places too guys.. common.. if we had good public transportation in the US I would say yes, but we dont, and we cant get anywhere without a car or a hassel so its not right for us to take away their cars. END OF DISCUSION.

um, drunks need to get around too and bus #s are so confusing, so we should let them drive as well....

I believe in England they require a driving test every few years, we should have that implimented here.

I know I'm sturring up a huge hornets nest with these comments but;

Research shows that cell phones cause less accidents than more common distractions (radio adjustments, children, pets, loose interior objects and the like). I couldn't beleive this when I saw all the research! Further more, young people (16-25) are in more accidents per capita than any other age group.

I WILL NOT DENY OLD PEOPLE ARE A HUGE DANGER but research shows young adults (including me) are the most dangerous category of drivers.

To add to the mix, the most mindless accident I have ever seen involved an elderly lady. She backed out of a parking spot and drove directly into the front end of a triumph. Then proceded to back into it damaging it 3 more times before going on her way!!!

Sorry for long post...just had some thoughts on this one(nervous)

My friend and I were sitting in a restaurant parking lot one time waiting for it to open for lunch. We were just leaning against our cars talking. The parking lot was empty except for us and about 5 employees cars. This old woman drives into the parking lot and slams right into the light pole. My friend and I are stunned, we start to walk over to see if she's alright. She puts the car in drive and leaves. Didn't get out to check for damage or anything. The car was making some loud noise that we could hear for like a minute and a half as she drove down the road.

I'm all about two things...as I have mentioned before:

Stricter driving tests and required Driver's Ed. Tests should include maneuvering through a busy parking lot as well as parking. (this is where most fender benders occur) Highway driving should also be required on the test, even if its only a distance of one exit, with one lane change. (This part may NOT be omitted if you happen to take your test during rush hour) I know it may be unsafe to let inexperienced drivers out on the real road...but hey, if they walk away with their licence that day, they will be doing it without any supervision anyway.

Repeated driving 'road' test after 5-10 years. Possibly a written test covering new laws that have passed (eg 'turn on red if there is no sign'...i hate waiting behind someone who doesn't move) with an optional refresher course if you fail. If you fail one or both of the tests you should have 30 days to make it up or your licence should be revoked.

These two things will limit the amount of teenage accidents as well as get older or inexperienced drivers off the road. Some teenagers may not be able to pass the test...thats ok, people fail flight tests all the time...and guess what, they don't fly!

..on a side note i thought of something funny...my first driving experience was on a 10hp ride on mower :) One day I was going up the driveway and I went to stop it. No prob, but I forgot to take it out of gear and when I took my foot off the clutch it jumped forward and I rear ended my dad's parked bronco. :( My very first accident.

That's ok, when I was done mowing the lawn, I broght the tractor back to put it in the garage, I put the brake on but left it in gear too. I got off the tractor and I guess the weight of me getting off let the brake off too and the tractor went right through the garage door. Definately wasn't one of my better days.
