mp3 and elise
I am thinking of moving on. I still love the little bugger like the first day I got her, but I found something else. I found what is pretty much a dream car so what do I do here? Sell the baby thats been so good to me? Or keep it?

it's a real personal choice...what are you looking at?

I am looking at a cayman. It's worlds apart from protege dynamics, but its a blast to drive and is an instant classic. So its a struggle. Damn, why did the mp3 have to be so darn good?

Other than maintenance costs, I'd say go for it.

I can finally afford this with my new job so I am going to pull the trigger I think. It's either the cayman or the exige. The exige is much more rare and much more hardcore, but I don't think it will age that well. Also, cops would be all over an exige/elise. I just can't justify spending 50K on a toyota motor. Thoughts on exige vs. cayman?

... or just save your money for better stuff later...

Not much better stuff out there than a porsche. Sure there are 997's, ferraris and even the gtr soon, m3's and others but very few are mid engined. Frankly I don't really want anything more that this. I'd never want to drive a ferrari for fear of breaking it or grabbing too much attention. Not that I can afford one, but I guess if I saved for quite a few years I could.

I am young and single so I can't imagine a better time to enjoy a sports car.

If you were keeping the MP3 for a DD, I'd tell you to go for the Exige/Elise, but if you're selling, then get the Cayman. Talking about spending that much for a Toyota motor is like complaining about the Ariel Atom having a GM motor. The car is so much more than that.

personally, I'd go for the exige over the cayman. if you'er talking about being young and single and enjoying a sports car...i dont think it would get much better than that...

The mp3 would be sold so whichever I get will be a daily driver. I've kind of decided against the exige as it just has zero trunk space. I don't travel at all with work, but I do need space for a quarter stack guitar amp and head. I do gigs so I can't get something that can't hold it. I think it will fit in the cayman but I will need to test it before purchase. If I was keeping the mp3 the exige would be the obvious choice for an all out weekend warrior.

Lotus is more than a celica motor, but it is gaining much cheaper competitors in the saturn sky and solstice. Sure the elise/exige are much much better cars, but lotus isn't exactly known for reliability. If the Europa was availible in the US I'd probably look into that as it has more space.

if your singel and makeing a butt load of money i say pay your mp3 off and get the outer car or if it is paid off save for a nice down payment and keep your mp3 as a dd.

I'd go with the Cayman, very nice looking and its a nicer ride than the go-kart like Exige. I'm jealous man! (first)

get the cayman, it is almost as quick as a 911 carrera... the ride would be way better then the exige for a dd. the cayman is just more practical too... it has cargo room in it.

Porche and pratical in the same sentance? Something just doesn't sound right about that.

Also, are you set on getting an import car? Or, would you entertain the thought of a domestic?

If you are def. selling the MP3, post up here if you've listed it in the "Vehichles for sale" section

Yeah, I am going for the porsche now. First I am going to strip the mp3 of some of those mods in my sig and part them out individually. I will certainly post up when I am selling each of them and when I am selling the car.

I tried to get my guitar cab in the trunk of the cayman yesterday at a dealer. That was a bit of a hassle. I got the whole sales staff out there trying to squeeze this thing into the rear hatch, then the front under the hood, then the front seat ( which ended up being the only place it would fit). But, it certainly won't go into the lotus.

It's going to be a few months until I can order one and then another 70 days or so waiting for it to be built and shipped over, but it will be worth it.
