See you in San Diego!

Small world isnt it? ;) (Leslie is my middle name).

EDIT:Looks like the RUN/WORK order is up for SD tour. STX is in 3rd run group, GS in 4th run group.

Why? Are they going to bite me?

What East Coast events should I be watching for?

Peru, Milwaukee, Toledo Pro Solo, CenDiv, GLDiv, and Nationals.

I'm running the MSP in DS this year with my co-driver John Tak (2006 BSP champ). I couldn't fork out all the cash for the STX go fast parts so I'm going the cheaper route and running DS. I don't know if anyone has maxed out the potential of the MSP in DS yet. We definately will, so it will be interesting to see how we place against the ITR.

Damn I was hoping you would make it out to the DC Pro.

It's a possibility. John and I don't have anything going on that weekend. The only issue is it's right before the two National Tours we are running. That would be seven weekends in a row that we would be travelling a couple hundred miles to an event. I don't want to get burned out or take the chance of something braking before the tour.

What are you running in the DC event and what other events are you running?

If you are not signed up/on the waiting list already I don't think you will be getting into the DC Pro (but you could try)

What I will be running as well as what other events I will be at is still up in the air.

I have a mildly prepped STS2 miata that I ran last year at Devens tour, Peru Pro, and the DC Pro. I also have my Spicy that needs an engine put back into it that I was hoping to run some this year.

Hope you guys have better luck today.

It was a good event, I had a lot of mechanical problems, plus, maybe I can't drive. Two events in how many years? And they were both National Tour events...I could make up a lot of excuses, like being up for the three days prior to the event and all that, but truth is that my heart and mind just weren't in it. I really overdrove the car.

Final results I was 12.9 seconds off the lead!

I'll post some pics and some short video after I get home and sleep a bit. (I just got into Portland a few hours ago.)

Michele did a great job for her first time ever driving the car, she was right in the pack the first day, but the second day the heats ran long so by the time she ran we all had sweatshirts and coats on, it was freezing! She actually drove the car better than I did, her best time was only a few hundredths off mine.

The Falken 451's are just about done, they just wouldn't heat up enough with the camber issues I was having. Everyone else was on shaved Advans of course.

So the car goes back on the rack tomorrow to fix the camber issues (lots of slippage with the eccentrics and one of the camber bolts broke in the front. This resulted in starting a run with -2.75 camber and finishing with -4 on one side and +1 on the other.

Just from trailering the car down the rear camber went from -1.7 in the rear to +1.2! We of course didn't realize this until our drift fest practice runs, car was all over the place! Michele kept mostly quiet, but I know she was thinking "WTF? This car handles like s***!" And she was right.

I have never done so many alignments in my life. Thankfully I put airbags in the back of the truck so getting the trailer level was super easy. Good thing I bought a camber/caster gauge and toe plates the day before I left, and then bought a new pyrometer when I got down there because I forgot mine at home of course.

Other interesting things that happened:

I have a huge dent in my hood from the prop rod being put in the wrong hole, so it's tented up. This is my first and only dent in the entire car.

Sometime during the trip, all the wires for my trailer brakes were cut. I found this out about half way home. So I spent an hour at a gas station rewiring the brakes on the trailer.

I didn't come home totally empty handed though, but I'll wait and tease you with that and post a pic later.

Britt

Sorry to hear about all the problems. Luckily it sounds like all the alignment issues should be fixed with some new bolts.

Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Get some new stickies and get back on the horse, I'm sure you can do well.

Hey guys,

I was just looking through some of the results yesterday. Man, that 2007 CSP Miata (Ron Bauer driving) was faster than almost every fendered car- fastest SP car and almost beat SM2! Did anyone get a good look at it? It's the first time I've seen it in National competition. Is that thing preped to the max or is there even more room to get it faster?
I knew they would be a great SP car, since the soft stock springs and limited alignment adjustments are it's only weakness for autocross- obviously that is easily fixed in Street Prepared.

This was posted by the owner of the 2007 CSP MX-5 on another forum.

Regarding my car prep, I admit that it is far from fully built, but it does already have a lot of the things that are needed to make it close. The additional things that can be done are a super lightweight clutch (I have a Fidanza flywheel right now,) removal of air conditioning and radio componentry, and some kind of additional engine management. I can also get better shocks for the car, and that may be coming in the near future, but we'll see.

Umm yeah...beating last year's national champ by almost a full second.... and he still has AC in the car. That's nice. Are there grumblings about getting the car out of CSP yet? BSP? ASP?
