Seat Warmers

Mine do not seem to heat the seats unless I actually sit in them. I have noticed this a few times when I let the car idle to let it defrost after those cold outside nights.

Is everyone else's behind feeling the same thing?

I thought it was just my imagination but I agree with you... maybe when there is no weight on the seat the heating elements aren't getting close enough to the top fabric/leather to actually transfer the heat effectively?

That's the way they are suppose to work I believe....sensors sense weight and temp in car etc...adjust accordingly. Nothing is wrong!

Yeah that's how they are in my roommate's volvo, it's frustrating when the car is sitting in the driveway warming up and then you have to sit down on a cold leather seat still :P

i noticed mine to take at least 10 mins to notice the slight "warmth" during early morning cold weather (30's) here in TX (flame)

The warmers are not particularly effective in the CX under any circumstance. In the past, I have had cars with two levels of hot. At least the switches are easy to see and operate and the heaters stay on until you want them off. I spent the weekend in my buddy's Explorer and the switch is way down on the side of the seat and impossible to find with a gloved hand. then you get all of 10 minutes before it shuts off. This on an Eddie Bauer. C'mon, Ford, I expect better.

I haven't noticed much in this area. Most of the time I notice that the seat heaters just don't cut it. My wife's Subaru Legacy GT Wagon seats heat up fast, and so did my Subaru Legacy GT Sedan. These seats once in a while will surprise me and heat up. Feh, no big deal. Once you sit your butt in them and they have contact, they seem to work pretty well.

I have never paid attention to see if my seats heat up without me but they work fine and I have no complaints. On the other hand I guess it would be nice if the CX7 had the overkill 5 settings that my Jetta does.

I've found the seats to be pretty darn good actually. They work off a thermostat, so theoretically, they are automatically adjusting temperature all on their own. It's not exactly clear whether it's linked to the climate control thermostat or not, but I've certainly found them to be the "right" temperature MOST of the time.
