Hey guys, im new to this form. Ive been searching the interent looking for a place where I may be able to get an answer to my inconvience.
I bought my Mazda 3 sport back in may '04, 6 months ago. When I got it there was a brake noise coming from the front brakes when I would go in reverse, turn my wheels (either direction), and apply the brakes. I had heard that this was a normal issue with the brakes as there was some sort of new material being used. The "problem" slowly got worse and worse and louder and louder, until finally I had to take it in to the dealership where i got it to have them look at he problem. It seemed to have something to with moisture. The noise seemed to be greatly amplified wether it was just after the car was washed, driven in the rain, or started in the morning and condensation was involved. The dealership reaplaced both front brakes assemblies, kept it for 2 days to make sure, and the problem seemed to have vanished. It was driven in the rain and started up in the morning and washed and not a peep from them....
Now, I live in Edmonton Canada, and in about mid October we had a huge freak snow storm, and guess what? It came back. This time it was worse. The car diden't have to be "cold" on start-up for it to happen, and it was louder. It could just sit for a couple of hours and it would be very loud. It would even do it this time when the wheels weren't turned and even moving forward! So, a few weeks back I took it back in to the dealership and they were surprised to see me and heard that the problem was back and much worse then before. They kept it for a few hours and decided to try this bright red glue-like substance and apply it to the brake pad on both front wheels (im assuming under Mazda Canada's guideance). And for a while... yes... it was fine. They squeaked alittle bit very rarely but nothing nearly as bad as it was before. And then it snowed again... on sunday. I was in a parking lot and it started snowing while I was having lunch. I came out... not having squeaked at all that whole day (or what whole week mind you) prior to that point... pulled out of my stall, and they screamed again like they were going to wake the dead. Just as bad as before the glue-substance was applied.
They have not stopped squealing since and i don't have any reason to belive that they will stop.
Now, has anyone ever heard of this happening and what the solution might be? I know of some other Mazda 3 owners and they haven't heard as much as a peep from thier cars' brakes. The dealership has no idea as to why its happening. I have left a message with Mazda Canada and they have yet to get back to me.
As i'm sure you can imagine its really annoying to have this "problem" on this car as i do not want to have to bring the car in everytime is snows to sclience the brakes.
If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass it along. Im hoping someone out there has some sort of answer as Mazda clearly has no idea whats going on, and i'm sick of waking up the neighbours every morning when i go to work. (yes, its THAT loud).
