Scratch in Glossy Piano Finish Dash Trim

So I knew it was bound to happen but my significant other managed to put a nice deep scratch in the glossy trim piece of the dash on the passenger side. I was able to lessen it's appearance with Plastx polish (worked surprisingly well) it sticks out like a sore thumb anytime direct sunlight bounces off that trim piece.

I'm going to try and buff it lightly with carnuba wax (my hope it that it will fill the valley of the scratch a little with oils) but was wondering if anybody else has had to repair a scratch like this.

Also, what alternatives (besides carbon fiber wraps) exist out there. It's amazing they haven't made an aftermarket piece for this that's brushed aluminum or something.

Love the glossy finish...it's just in the worst possible place on that dashboard.

You could pull the plastic, sand and apply a clear coat (automotive grade), then wet sand and polish. It will hold up to scratches much better, and you can always wax/polish as necessary. Vinyl is another option.

Yeah. I'm considering getting it painted eventually. Pretty easy fix and will be a lot more durable.
