200 hp and 13% torque increase<O:p</O:p

Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and Scion announced today that a TRD supercharger for the Scion tC sports coupe will be available through dealerships beginning today. The TRD supercharger will help the stock tC's 160-horsepower engine put out up to 200 horsepower and increase maximum torque up to 13 percent.<O:p</O:p

This all-new TRD supercharger is compatible with both 2005 and 2006 model year Scion tC sports coupes with manual transmissions. <O:p</O:p

This centrifugal supercharger, which produces seven pounds of boost, was chosen for its compact configuration, ease of installation on the tC and smooth power delivery characteristics. <O:p</O:p

The supercharger, when installed by an authorized Scion or <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com /><ST1<IMG class=inlineimg title=Toyota</ST1:p dealer, falls under the same powertrain warranty of five years or 60,000 miles, or the balance of the new car warranty, whichever is greater. When not installed by a dealer, the supercharger is covered by a 12-month, 12,000-mile parts-only warranty.<O:p</O:p

The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the TRD supercharger is $3,200, not including installation.

Finally its released! I only thing I do not like is that its warranty is only 12/12,000 miles which is a parts only warranty.

plus the $5k its going to kost for the kit & installation by Toyota to keep it under the powertrain warranty...screw that...

It will not fit under the powertrain warranty. It comes with a parts warranty of 12/12,000 miles only.

This should put the 'tc' a liitle over 20k - which could be why Honda has held off on a definitive price for the Civic si.

it says....if installed by dealer...its covered...if not...its not...

That's fine, but that doesn't do anything for the crap visibility, unreadable gauges and controls, crap tires, numb steering, unsettling ride, bad transmission gearing (at least on the auto), anemic air conditioning, small cargo space (for a hatch), crap rear headroom. I have a review of the auto when I test drove it a couple months ago if anyone is interested in reading it.

some guy on www.ScionLife.com already got his ... i'm registered on that board too cuz back in April i was about to buy a tC ... only if the SC was out. but it wasn't so i found my current car...lol

lol... yeah, when i went to test drive it for 30mins, i didn't like the visibility or power either. toyota steering isn't that good anyways.

that powertrain should go into an xA or xB. a ~200hp xB would be a fun way to get my dogs around.

Definitely not worth the $$$ for that power increase

It's a start though; other than the Jackson-esqe types of s/c's for I4, there aren't many options. At least TRD is making in-roads. I'm sure an s/c on an engine other than that 2.4 would be good times. I wonder if it will end up in the xA/b (the s/c that is...<2.0L with an s/c...interesting).
