Scared of MSP!

I love my car, but I was stupid...I raised the boost to 12PSI without changing the exhaust for fuel management! Most on the people on here that blew their engines because they don't have all the supporting mods

I've had no major issues at 16k miles. I love it. I got the flash, replaced the bushings, and had my headunit freeze up once. Also, I noticed the 2003 Protege got all superior ratings across the board in Consumer Reports, so you can take comfort in that.

I blew the hell out of my car.....(I drive the s*** out of it though) But Im still learning how to tune and it got wayout of my hands. Oh well trial by error. I think thats the only way I learn. But I love my car. Wouldnt trade it for the world. Well maybe the world but you know

I have only good things to say about my MSP. It is not the fastest thing on the road but it is fast enough. It returns decent mileage, when the loose nut behind the wheel keeps is foot out of the throttle. It stops and turns extremely well, surprising lots of people expecting a normal Protege. There is an EVO that is still wondering how that Protege stole his line through a turn. In short a very entertaining car that is also useful. But like much else, it is just my opinion.

I'm scared of MSP's, they trap like 88mph in the 1/4....I don't want to go back to the future!

Blah, Blah, 53k miles, 12-13PSI for EVA now, 3 sets of bushings remedied by new brackets, great mileage, great handling, great fun.
The end.

I'm in love with mine. I've kept the engine stock for over a year since I've owned it, and I've focused my mods on handling. This car handles amazingly now, and I'm in love with it. It's my little racecar. Soon some power mods are coming, but I'll be staying at stock boost for a while. Exhaust/tuning for power soon, though.

hey minnesota

I've got 20K on mine, it clunks a little but f... it. I love this car. For the money I've put into it and what I get back in return I'm amazed, I've considered other rides before and since and this car is the best. Just don't be stupid with overboosting and beating the s*** out of it. Most cars will break if you do that too much.

By the way, you should come to our MN Mazda meets next year, you'll see some guys in the twin cities who've boosted there cars right and you'll get a sense of the potential of these amazing cars. There are at least 5 heavily modded MSP's in the cities with no problems, so next summer keep your eye out for the next meet...probably april or may sometime. Good luck this winter (I use Continental Sport Contacts on stock rims year round and the worked out well so far) PEACE!!!

this guys car is retarded, done right, and runs perfectly

I too have wondered about all of the problems that people here have had. I have only put 8000 on my MSP. I have had no real problems with it. I had the windshield replaced, the Protege emblem replaced, as well as having the ECU flashed. I have no clunking as of right now, but it sure sounds like it is coming. I have no modifications, and to me I feel secure that the car will last a long time. I love driving it and look forward to next June when it will come out of storage!

the times I had with mine left a smile on my face. It was modded as well, fmic, custom intake, bov, exhaust/ downpipe, 10psi... Never once acted up on me. (it would chock on its own fuel but thats okay, better than blowing up. )

I think that's just a regular EVO, not an MR, but either way it's pretty sweet.

White EVO = teh hotness

I like my car. It's pretty practical for everyday driving. I've got 14K on it and the only problems so far were the alarm and a few squeaks and rattles. (Besides the rich a$$ a/f ratio.)
