Saw the 07s Espresso Brown Leather

I went by the dealership today to check out the 07s in person and I have to say the espresso brown leather was a bit of a let down. My wife actually hates the color and I'm only so so with it. In any case, I think we'll be opting out of our Galaxy Grey 07. She didn't like the Galaxy Grey that much either. The color of the leather is just too dark and too brown, and much like dark chocolate. I prefer the baseball glove color of the the MX5. Also, there are brown fabric pieces in the door panels. Overall, it didn't look so great and I think they would have been better off offering black instead.

Our solution now is to possibly pick up an 06 and then have custom leather installed which would be a bit more expensive however, it'd be in black or possibly two tone.

I have an 07 leather trim on order and have a few question if you don't mind:
1. Are the entire seat leather or is it combined with other fabric?
2. Is the black plastic throughout the car completely replace for that esspreso brown? If not, is the brown only replacing the grey?
3. have you seen any other changes (perhaps to the tail lights)

Thanks,
Can't wait to get it!!!

The entire seat is leather or leatherette. I'm sure only the seating surfaces are leather though as with most leather options. Any plastic or metal frame bits are black at the very bottom.

2. Is the black plastic throughout the car completely replace for that esspreso brown? If not, is the brown only replacing the grey?

Nope... only where there was fabric on the door panels is it replaced with a solid brown fabric of the same color as the leather. No change on the dash itself. Most of the interior bits are same as before.

Sadly Canada doesn't get the darker light surrounds nor Xenon lights as an option. I suppose owners can retrofit them using US parts if desired. I didn't see any other obvious difference between the 07s and 06s which is why I'm consider an 06 if the price difference is worth it. Otherwise I'll just order a non-leather 07.

I figured the leather sucked but that was IMO I just saw one myself but then again there must be someone in the world who wants that color. As for your question on the panels looks like they tried to replace the grey fabric with that same leather expresso...secondly they have a silver plastic cover on the door trims like the shifter plastic. Maybe heated cloth seats would be a cheaper option...... M3 GT and Sport come standard now with Heated Cloth front seats....

I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit the cloth with the heaters from the leather. Then again, it never gets cold enuf to really need it, especially in Vancouver.

I have seen modified cloth stock seats with added seat heaters and cost as much as 400 bux a seat including installation but I assume prices have come down since then.....

I'm a brandie new member, and a proud owner of a brandie new 2007 Mazda5 Steller Green manual touring.

I THINK that one difference between the 06 and 07 is windows that go up and down on the back doors. Our 07 has them, and I don't think that the 06's we drove did.

I know that I was thrilled when I discovered that they moved on the 07 they got in for us to drive.
