RX8 Handling VS. MSP Handling

SpeedMcheen cant say it any better... good racing story! not about stupid drag racing or anything!
I dun have a MSP, I heard the handling was beyond amazing for a stock car but oversteering? The only time I over steer is in when i screw around in snow. (empty streets or empty parking lots). but yah... back to ur story. WOW!!!.

But i do have to say, just wait till the MS RX-8 come out. It has to own the protege, otherwise err mazda really screwed up, lol.

MAZDASPEED RX-8 will destrory all but too bad its still concept... i got no proof... lol

I've owned two Miatas and I bought an MSP and I love it and now the frackin' Mazdaspeed Miata comes out. I'd so rather the Miata over the RX8 or even the MSP, any day of any week of anything anywhere anyhow. The miata is the greatest car mazda makes, but totally to small for I need only one car. That's my 03.5

Now that's a good racing story.
I think it is a good driving story. It seems (like the RX8 and MSP) just a bit of fun between two drivers enjoying the open road and driving their cars they way they were meant to be driven. Our cars were not setup to drive just from point a to point b they were made to DRIVE in a spirited non-reckless fashion. Now reckless is not only defined by speed but condition and surrounding circumstances. So two people running their cars a bit exercising good judgment while doing so can be done with a good deal of safety if not then an 80horse 40MPG econbox would be fine for everyone.<O:p</O:p

BS.

115mph around a posted 35mph turn? SURE
Posted speed limit is 45 sorry about the incorrect information.
To bad you don't live in the houston area. We could go have a nice 130 MPH drive up to beaumont, have some lunch and then test out this turn.

Don't lie!! I know you will still take the turn the same, I would. Eventhough street racing is illegal, and dangerous, most people don't drive the speed limit on the road anyway. The first thing that you do after you do a mod to your car is to press the go pedal through the floor board, to see if it was worth the $. Just my .02
Left Beaumont TX yesterday and what can I say 115 again. Damn I love this car.

stock RX-8 posts same track lap times as the 340hp M3 at Nurburgring. You guys are dreaming if the msp can touch the RX8 with a good driver. I've driven many cars and the MSP isn't all that stock. My last car was a civic coupe with (tanabe n1 springs/bilisten sports, neuspeed upper front structbar/cusco lower bar, CTR rear upper bar, comptech rear lower bar with 22mm swarybar, and 25mm front suspenion tech swaybar).

Gonna get way off track here and I'm in the wrong forum. Apologies.

Thanks for the compliments. I wasn't really seeking any by posting that...just been dying to share the story with the board all week. Just like someone said, we had a chance to exercise our cars and it wasn't really a race. If anyone is familiar with the Chattanooga area, we ran up the front side of Signal Mtn. I lived on the mtn. for 5 years (back when I had my 323 GTX) and know the road well. I thought my GTX did a good job on that road, but the MSP is light years ahead in the handling dept. The only time the GTX was better was in the snow. Nothing like ripping up the mountain at full boost in 2nd and 3rd throwing 4 white rooster tails!

As for the oversteer, heck yes the MSP will! All three 323/Protege platform cars I've owned like to do it, mainly in decreasing radius turns. The 323 GTX was easy to rotate, but I was never able to spin it. Probably because of the AWD. My daily driver/beater '91 Escort GT will also step the rear out if you want it to. Less so these days with a ragged out stock suspension and bushings though. As for the MSP, I expected it to exhibit similar handling and the main reason I bought it is because it was my last chance to get a vehicle based on that orginal platform. However, it's even easier to hang the ass end out than I thought it would be. It must have a stiff rear sway bar. I really need to autocross it or something so I can safely learn the behavior at the limit. The time it swung out on me was going down another area mtn. road and I hit an unexpected damp stretch all the way through a decreasing radius curve at around 45 mph. The back end started coming around pretty fast and I felt lucky to have reigned her in before it got away from me. That's why I like playing going UP the mountains. It's much easier to scrub off extra speed and the back end is less likely to pass you.

And now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

once again, rx8's are not that fast nor do they have extraordinary handling

our cars arent extraordinary as well. It's like saying the detroit tigers are gonna kick someones ass.... who cares they suck.

If you want to excel in autocross youd have to spend just as much money on an MSP as you would on an rx8.

my two cents,
I drove an rx8 the other day. It was a lot of fun, but it didn't feel any faster than the msp until I got it up into the higher rpms (above 6000). It also has a lot more body roll than the msp. The rx8 is awesome, but for the money the speed kicks ass!
