RX8 Brakes on 3

Has anyone ever thought about getting RX8 discs from a junk yard or by other means and putting them on their 3? Bolt patterns the same...they are a inch bigger all around. Not sure about the difference in calipers.

Something to think about. (uhm)

Good Idea :D (Esp. since you're going to put those RX-8 Wheels on too) The only thing I would be worried about is the added stress to the Master Cylinder from the added force, etc.

if upgrade the rotors and calipers then the master cyl should not get any added work. Its just pushing fluid. It would just have to push more fluid if the caliper is larger. This could result in having more travel in the brake peddal to apply the brakes.

ummmm, lets see, how many RX8s have i come across in a j/y (less the not so many actually on the street running)....mmmm, NONE! oh there was that...mmm, no n/m

dude, your optimisim is refreshing but good luck on that man.

wonder if the EBFD would be affected with added rotor size and caliper swap?

I was thinking more along the lines of...In surfing the RX8s in Cardomain and other various forums there are plenty that have done a big brake upgrade. What do you get when you upgrade your brakes? That's right...OEM brakes collecting dust in the garage. That's where I come in. (shady)

No sweat...I'm just looking for an inexpensive way to upgrade the brakes.

Amen to that! I dont know if you guys are checkin in the TCE big brakes kit post, but I read on there $2000 for big brake kit.....OUCH!

How are you going to fit the calipers? Of course some new parts would need to be put in place or existing parts replaced with some modifications to the new parts. I'm not all that smart when it comes to positioning new calipers on a car. I am just wondering, hopefully someone can fill me in on those issues.

[threadjack]The kit actually runs about $1750[/threadjack]

The RX8 brakes would be a great idea if they were a bolt on mod, but I doubt the 3 and the RX8 share any suspension components, so you would probably need to have custom brackets, spacers, and lines made, in order for them even to work on the 3. 1 off custom pieces would probably bring the cost up alot closer to the TCE kit, for alot less braking improvement(and no Wilwood Bling).

For some reason, I though it was a lot more than that. 1750$ is actually not bad at all.

Your probably thinking about that GB king13 tried to set up for a different Big brake kit. His GB "discounted" price was about 2400.00.

Can't beat the "Wilwood" bling bling...that's for sure! (wow)

It was just a late night (I work graveyard) thought and really didn't expect to get so much traffic on this thread. Nice to see all the attention. There's a lot of love here. (group) sniff sniff
