rx-8 with disi engine

I was just reading the thread of "rx8 vs ms3". I really like both cars and(hahaspit) i think both are quite unique in it's own class

I 'm just wonderin, Imagine, instead of making an rx-8 with rotary, what if they put the disi ingine in there instead and have realwheel drive.

wouldn't this car be a monster >?

i really don't understand that thread you are talking about....they are 2 completely different cars....enough said with that....and yea i think the rx8 would be awesome with a turbo, but i believe it should stay rotary, because that engine is unique for mazda...but a FMIC would like nice peeking out

With a DISI it will no longer be 'RX'. They could do it and call it something else - mazda 7? lol Yeah if they keep the weight down and get rid of the rear doors, it would be one badass ride.

It's impossible to fit a bigger engine in there and keep it as is. The size, weight, location of the engine is part of what gives the car a 50/50 weight distribution.

Lose the 2 rear seats which are useless anyways and lose the suicide doors, push the 2 front seats back, make it a true 2door 2 seater and make room in the engine bay for the DISI... should let you keep the 50/50 weight distribution

Yeah. I love these all these available economy hatchbacks and sedans getting all this performance, but it's a bit sad to see the sports car world disappear. Both the Speed 6 and Speed 3 are faster in a straight line then Mazda's flagship Sports car. Lets see a sports car please that can FLY.

Now it is very likely the next Mazdaspeed Miata will have this engine, and if then it will be the fastest, best performing Mazda. In fact, as an S2000 owner and true sports car fan, I'm keeping an eye on that. I'm imagining the power of the Speed 3/6 in a Miata that weighs about 2800lbs or less. Now that is something SPECIAL. Hopefully they do it.

The appeal of the RX8 is the engine. At least to me it is. That would be like taking V-Twin out of the RC51 and replacing it with the inline from the CBR1000RR. Sure, it's up on HP, but you killed the appeal of the 51.

Well it depends... Im sure a lot of drunks would find it a convenient car! WC still better than NOVA! In any case it isnt going to happen... this is all "wouldnt it be nice... ' talk
