Hey guys im looking into getting some 18's to replace my stick wheels. I love the Rx-8 wheels and was wondering if anyone knew if they would fit my P5 or not? Thanx -B(uhm)

I had checked into these a few months back. They are 18x8 with a 50mm offset(same bolt pattern as P5 as well), and from what I gathered off the RX-8 forum they weigh about 19lbs. Hope this helps! Later! Oh yeah, you will need to go with a 215/35/18, and more than likely will need to trim/roll your rear, and possibly, front fender(s).

awesome ..well im looking to get some used ones right now. My friend is going to powdercoat them gunmetal for me if it all works out. Thanx for the help -B

i dont think they will coz the diameter is too big and it will rub on the the wheel wells when u turn the steering wheel

I've tried it with the coiilovers. The backspacing might barely clear due to the increased diameter in comparision to a 16,8 +50 FD wheel, but the front spacing/fender will rub no matter what tire size you run. Just an FYI. You will require fender mods.

It can work up front, but not in the rear of a wagon. Sedan might need minor rolling and stretch the s*** out of a tire on it.

Peace, Rishie
From rishie, roll the fenders for a sedan, too bad for you wagon guys.

And quit calling it diameter damnit. The wheel has an 18" diameter, the diameter will fit on a protege5, its the width that causes the problems.

Bolt pattern works, but the offset doesn't. The wheels are 18x8 which would mean that we'd need a very high offset in order for them to fit.

The wheels are like 449.99 a piece and thats without centercaps.... not cheap and that is if they fit. Talk to Captain KRM P5 he sells them on his new site check the link in my sig then click on RX8 and go to OEM parts.... He should also be able to get specific details on them...

I think it's overkill to fit the 8's massive 18s rims on our tiny P5 considering the 8's giant wheel wells but if someone could do it more power to them,IMO.

They'll fit with fender trimming I think, as the offset is really high ( 50mm ). If you buy things retail you're crazy, sets of RX-8 wheels generally get around $700 on EBAY with tires.

I've been keeping track of 'Nobody's" wheel exploits, and with the DG flares, he fits 19x8 rims with 32mm back spacing, so I'm sure with some creativness these would fit an unflared P5. I'm trying to talk my local dealer into letting me try one on the car just to get an idea. We'll see.

im not sure but isnt this thread supposed to be in Rotary mazda section? (dunno)

Nah. It has nothing to do with the actual RX8. It probably should be in the wheels/tires section.. but oh well.

I'd like to know if they fit too even though I'm not optimistic.. Just so then I know if I could have iForged or HRE or someone down the road get me an 8" wide wheel with a custom offset.
