RX-8 owner wanna a new engine for free

I was taking my MSP in for service yesterday and the guys told me "If you had a RX-8 with 30k miles on it i'd do a engine swap with a brand new engine for you for free."

This is because mazda wants a few RX-8 engines with 30k miles on it to see how the engine weared and teared.

This was at Jim Ellis Mazda of Marietta in Gerogia.

Check with your local dealer and see what kind of thing they can work out for you.

didn't you just buy yours? I've had mine since August, and I just turned over 11K...I thought I drove alot...

Yah, that's a lot of driving, KYMP5!! Ours has 18K and is a year old. I thought we drove everywhere...

mazda innew orleans changed about 1 or 2 a month.. in my town about 1 or 2 every 3 months.. problem is most dealerships cant repair the engine itself, they dont have the special tools to do it.. one of them was a coolant leak from tbetween the rotary housings.. they called mazda tech to see what hey wanted to do, they took a engine off the assembly line and sent it to them..

that's interesting. They should have done a lot of testing b4 the release.

I'll give them my FS-DE with 90K on it for a new RX8 engine. Maybe they will go for that.

lol man i wouldnt get my hopes up. we have had several rx8 with 30+ on them and never heard anything like this from mazda.

id have a hard enough time getting them to replace it under warranty if something went wrong, let alone having them replace it for nothing.
